Without reading the plan, it was the exact right thing to do politically. Especially making it book-length.

He needs to change the conversation of the GOP primary to more favorable ground, and this will help do it.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Very clever, this may get him more air time at this weeks debate.
And the other folk may shoot at him more. Smart.

2 things:

1) Listened to his speech yesterday. The guy, again, is a terrific communicator. And knows how to lay out a clear plan on the economy. Obama should be worried.

2) The cover of his book doesn't have Hawaii or Alaska. :darthno:

Point #47 of his plan is selling them to help pay off the debt.

Just for a second I thought he had a forward written by L. Ron Hubbard.

That would have been cool.

Based on what I've seen so far, if I was a conservative American I'd vote for Romney. Based on the choices likely to be available, I might even vote for him if I was a regular John D'Oh type American, if such a thing could possibly exist.

Constructive competition is good. If this makes Obama worried, so be it.

For surer there are elements of Romney's plan that I disagree with, but as a guy who lived through Romney's governorship in Massachusetts and loves RomneyCare, I will be quite happy to see Rommey take the GOP nomination even if it means stiffer competition for Obama in the general election.

He called for lowering the maximum corporate tax from 35 percent to 25 percent and abolishing the tax on dividends and investment earnings for anyone making less than $200,000 a year.

The man has my attention.

That particular plan clearly favors the investor class over the working class, and is clearly favorable to retirees such as yourself. It favors making money with money rather over making money by the sweat of your browse.

For people who still has to work for money (i.e., making "earned income"), you've got to ask why not eliminate taxes for earned income for anyone making less than $200,000 a year?

Well now you've put politics aside and gone on to content. I image most of his jobs plan is the standard GOP prescription we've seen for decades, which stays remarkably constant despite changing diagnoses.

At least he's put an income cap on the removal of taxation from those who live off of investments. Thats an uptick from the usual GOP crap.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

And you would be right. Romney's plan include eliminating all estate taxes and making permanent of all Bush tax cuts. (Though not Obama's payroll tax cuts.)

Mitt thought about that until I pointed out to him that you would be crushed and disappointed if you couldn't pay income taxes anymore, which you seem to love to do.

He agreed and removed that point...

You know jon. For all his *devils advocate* shtick Ax does on this board, I'd almost be willing to bet he is more fiscally conservative than you or I.

Why, he probably squeezes $hit out of a buffalo nickel on a daily basis. :D

Reword the statement as follows,

"That particular plan clearly favors abstract capital manipulation over tangible production."

and the point stands.

Anyone with a 401k is in the investor class.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

I really want to know more about this Generic guy. What's his background? Governor, Senator, Community Organizer?

I keep googling him and he's doing great in the polls but nobody seems to know much about his policies.

If only the GOP could find someone as sane and/or principled as Generic Presidential Guy to run, they'd be sorted.
