Pelosi last night:

Quote:

"Hopefully, now the Republicans will come back to the table to negotiate a bipartisan, balanced agreement that is overwhelmingly supported by the American people," Pelosi said. “Republicans have taken us to the brink of economic chaos. The delay must end now so we can focus on the American people’s top priority: creating jobs and growing the economy."

Now tell me again whose policies are causing companies to sit on their cash for fear of what is coming next?

I am serious. If you cannot articulate your rationale for calling it what you called it, then perhaps it indicates that you don't really know yourself what you're talking about.

Do you care more about the debt ceiling than you do about jobs?

I'd like to see them just raise the damned thing without strings and get on with business. The best way to lower the deficit is to get the economy moving again.

That would work if the government wasn't spending us into bankruptcy. The problem is spending. We cannot continue spending at the rate we're spending. If we do, we'll sustain it for a short period, but when we finally do hit the wall there is no one to save us, and the whole thing will simply collapse. How many checks will go out then?

For pelosi to make the statement that "republicans have taken us to the brink of economic chaos" is sufficient grounds to impeach her from office and demand that she be admitted to a mental institution - or tried for treason. For her to say "it's time to focus on jobs" is such an insult to anyone with a functioning brain that she should be run out of office just for making that statement alone.

To actually believe that continuing to spend like a bunch of drunken sailors is going to have a positive effect on job creation makes a person even more clueless than pelosi - at least she doesnt actually *believe* the crap she spews.

Where you are confused is in your failure to understand just who it is that's putting the country's welfare first, and who it is that is motivated by political aspirations.

Here's a clue: it's not the democrats who are concerned about the country's welfare, and it *is* the democrats who are motivated by political aspirations.

yeah.. so what will happen if social security payments are not made.. and the bigbanks can collect hefty 30 dollar fees from the overdrafts that are sure to happen on autopays alone.

whose fault is that? do you know how much that will hurt our economy? probably not..

Considering the fact that the law requires SS checks to be paid, and considering the fact that there is enough money coming into the treasury in taxes each month to make those payments, if social security payments are not made what *should* happen is for Obama to be impeached for using the money to pay for his pet projects instead of making SS payments.

Do you understand that? Probably not.

Screw it. The whole system's been built on smoke and mirrors over the past fifty years. I'm tempted to say to hell with it, and let's see what we can build afterward. If it weren't for the fact that the wrong people would get hurt in the whole mess, and the people that put us into it would be just fine.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Let the damn thing crash. We've got the government we deserve.

When it does crash, maybe people will no longer vote themselves money.

In a representative democracy, the people always get the government they deserve.

As for letting it crash, I'm a bit disappointed to see you give up so easily. I would have thought that you'd have a bit more fight in you.

1. Never play poker with a man named Doc.

2. Never eat at a place named Mom's.

3. Never draw to an inside straight.

4. Never underestimate the stupidity of people in large numbers.

At this point in the nation's history, we have reached the tipping point. More than half of the citizens pay no income tax. More than half of the citizens receive more benefits from the government than they pay monies to the government.

This is insane and unsustainable. It is stupidity on a stupendous scale.

Therefore, when it breaks (and it WILL break, there is no other outcome) and the checks and benefits stop, sanity will be restored. At least temporarily.

Yes.

Of course.

The sooner the spending stops the better.

The pain is coming and won't get any easier.

Take the hit now and fix it.
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Sure, nothing lasts forever, every thing will eventually break.

Just did not quite expect that you gave up so quickly and resigned to letting it break.

I suspect in your mind you exempt your own pension check from that set.
