HOLY CARP!!!
I was so expecting to see something else in this thread. :(
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

Just for the record, Bush's new Canadian girlfriend looks so much like Kardashian, Kim is suing her over an Old Navy commercial.

I'm not sure exactly why, but that pic just looks... wrong.

In related news, I cannot believe Ochocinco is going to the Pats. Debt ceiling crisis, Eurozone collapse, and now this... I do believe the End Times are nigh.

The pats are like good stock investors - they play on fear and buy when the price is artificially low due to it. If Ocho (and Haynseworth!?!) weren't considered cancers, and if the other 31 GMs weren't avoiding them for that reason, their prices probably would have been higher. As it is, the Pats probably got a good deal. Doesn't hurt that Belichik is probably uniquely capable of reigning "problem guys" in.

No, I agree with you. The Pats' post-season loss against the Jets showed that they badly need a deep threat, the role that was once filled by Moss.

But still... Ochocinco...

It's weird and any other team that signed Ocho and Haynesworth I'd say was spinning out of control..

But to me Belichik is like Google - if I don't understand something he does I just assume there's a good reason and I try to understand it.

They say Belichick and Ocho have always had a weird friendship.

That Belichick is quite an enigma. To people who know him, he's apparently not the taciturn guy he presents at press conferences.

But he's definitely a control freak and will set rules that Ocho and Haynesworth will follow, or be cut in training camp.

He was a damn fine receiver, and I never saw a more athletic one. The question is how many years does he have left. He missed a lot of stuff last year. More than one can reasonably blame on Palmer.
