HOLY CARP!!!

Article and slide show: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/07/26/the-best-paying-majors-pa_n_909472.html Of the top 13 listed, all are engineering/science oriented, except Economics that came in at #12. Medicine and Law are not listed ... probably because those are graduate degrees (i.e., beyond mere "college majors"). |

Best paying, perhaps, but they don't mention competition rates for said jobs. Pretty brutal, at least where I am. |

One of my best friends in England has just graduated with a degree in petroleum engineering. She said it will take a year to see if she got a job with any of the many companies she has to apply to. Crazy! If she doesn't get a job this time around, she has to wait another year and do it all over again! |
| And how are you today? | |

I've read that, in general, petroleum engineers are in demand and that many are older and close to retirement. I suspect your friend won't have a difficult time of it, unless she is limiting her search to a particular geography. |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
Part of teh problem with petroleum engineering is you have to go where that industry is. Often relatively undesirable locations. |

True, but if you work for Schlumberger or Halliburton or the like you can spend a lot of time in some real hell holes. |
