Anyone care to comment on this? Personally, I am put off by it. Buy this car and avoid being antisocial? Gimme a break.

HOLY CARP!!!
I think it's hilarious. I think it's more like "this car allows you to lead a more active lifestyle".

"That's not a real puppy." :lol2:
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
I think its just witty social commentary.

What bothers you about it? You're in the generation that knows what socializing is really about.

I think it's awesome.

Seems the point of the ad is that things aren't always as they appear, and the older folks have a far better idea of what "real living" consists of than the younger Facebook addict.

How this fits into a car commercial I have no idea. But you can say that about every car commercial.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Then it's a really bad commercial. Those creepy Burger King commercials turned me off from their brand.

Wait I thought car commercials were realistic...are you telling me seemingly driverless cars don't normally drive on empty, recently-washed, windy roads with energy music blaring in the background, and then stop in the middle of an airport tarmac after doing a 180?

The message I got was "buy this car and live a more active, real life". Doesn't bother me, even though I've been accused of spending too much time on FB at the expense of my family.

I thought it was funny.

I like the ad. I agree with the idea of getting away from the computer and being active. I think they had to do the generational thing to make their point.

They'll do anything to get your attention since we get more jaded and ignore commercials.
It worked.
You are even spreading the word for them.
I didn't even know Venza was the name of a car before this thread.

For quite a while now they've been using stuff that has nothing to do with cars to sell cars.

No, they didn't have to. They chose to. And to some people, I guess it makes their point. To others, like myself, it's an insult to intelligence, a roll of the eyeballs, and a mental note to cross that company off a list I might buy from. Which just means I'm not part of their target market. And so it goes. La de da.

I don't think that's the message. I thought the message was that the younger woman was judging people based on how much on-line activity a person had (i.e. FB friends) - while her parents were really living their lives. It was poking fun at the young woman and showing her parents as active and outgoing - the kinds of people who would like this car.
