Ok, so what did you think of the speeches?

I, naturally, think they day goes to Boehner. Obama spouted the same populist feelgood stuff he always does and took no responsibility for where we are. He pretty well admitted he cannot lead effectively and wants your help to make the evil productive people to 'pay their fair share'. It was more of a stump speech than a policy position.

Boehner spanked him hard on changing his tune and who is really holding up the process.

So nobody but me watched?

I watched.

Neither one said anything that I haven't read from my handlers in the media.

But, having said that, I'll comment that it is the height of ... oh what's that word...oh, yeah...hypocrisy for someone who has increased the national debt by 20% to talk about fiscal responsibility. Yeah, I'll grant you the stimulus (that didn't do anything) and TARP (which was supposedly repaid), but that's so 2009. What's your excuse now?

A tad ironic, I suppose.

To be fair, TARP was signed into law by Bush II.

Agree with your opinion about the speeches.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

True - and touted by Obama as the thing that saved our economy.

Well, there was that stimulus thing that worked out so well.

Don't forget Cash for Clunkers.

Oh...we're going to save half a trillion by eliminating Medicare Advantage and other programs fraud, waste and duplication too.

Did just one of them do that? How? I always thought congress had to pass appropriations bills and presidents had to sign them. What was the debt at when Boehner joined congress?

I love the way liberals throw the term *balanced approach* and *increased revenue* around. They can't even say the*T* word, as if most Americans are freakin' morons and won't know the difference.

O wait... :silly:

Better yet, what was it when Pelosi and Reid took control?

No wonder. His speech last night was more a campaign speech than trying to find a solution to the debt stalemate.

He's pandering to his base trying to shore up support for his re-election.

The house passed a bill that solves the problem. The (democrat controlled) senate won't pass it and even if a miracle occurred and they did, Obie says he'll veto it. If that results in default, you can bet your sweet ass, that will be front and center in next years elections.

But hey democrats... roll the dice. You've been right on so many issues lately, haven't you?

Gee.. you don't suppose his 'through 2012 at least' requirement has anything to do with the election, do you?

If you look at all the latest polls and then look at some of the headlines coming out concerning other matters besides this one, one has to admit that Obama's political future is in doubt.

Oh, happy day.

One more point drop in his approval ratings, and he's in the toilet. His support among black voters is crumbling. That in itself is telling. His support among liberals is crumbling. His speech wasn't really about the budget issue - it was a blatant campaign speech aimed at the center. Bernie Sanders, one of the worst leftwing nutbobs there is, is saying the democrats need to run a challenger against Obama in the primaries.

Remember the guns Obama's administration secretly sold to mexican drug cartels in hopes of creating support for gun control laws? It's being reported that the Obama administration, in typical Chicago style politics, is intimidating witnesses in the ATF probe.

It's time for this asshat to go. There's more than one impeachment plan in the works. I'm beginning to think it might not be that bad to have Biden in the White House. At least he has no principles, and wouldn't get in the way if he saw the writing on the wall on an issue.

One thing is for sure: We cannot take much more of this idiot Obama. And in the likelihood of his reelection, something that is looking less and less like a possibility, we might as well all just sell out and move to somewhere else.
