I doubt you'll find it anywhere but a warehouse type liquor store, but it's not like anything else I've had. Apparently Winston Churchill thought Armenian Brandy compared to the finest cognacs?? I wouldn't know, I've never had a really good cognac.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

For Christmas this year, Mrs. George got me a Whiskey Advent Calendar.

Posted Image

It's a dram of whiskey in each little bottle, and oh, what an assortment.

Last night, I sampled some of this:

Quite nice - very smooth.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

On a whim, picked some of this up:

Daughter #3, coincidentally, got me some for my birthday!

Very, very nice. Smoother than I expected.

It was reviewed in the "Best Scotch under $35" thread.

You can get it in Virginia if you have $84.99 - they have 9 bottles at the store near me

Or $270.39 for the 18 years

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. 92 points Whisky Advocate
"Sweet, with subtle, crisp, nutty oak, then comes fudge, ripe banana, and peach. The overall effect is like eating vanilla ice cream with toffee fudge and hazelnut sprinkles. The structure is thick and physical, the palate sweet and quite fat, with light hints of raspberry, fruit salad. A jag of acidity freshens the delivery on the finish. With water there’s more toffee, and it becomes slightly more yielding, with less oak. For me the gold standard of grain. (DB, Fall 2015)"

90 points Wine Enthusiast
"The name of this whisky has nothing to do with coffee—rather, it's named for a type of still invented by Aneas Coffey, which is used to make this golden spirit. It offers mild vanilla-pear aromatics and is relatively light and silky on the palate. Look for a light vanilla sweetness at first, which gives way to a rounded dark chocolate note and baking spice finish. Recommended for highballs and other mixed drinks. (KN) (3/2016)"

Tried Jameson Caskmates the other day. That was very smooth, but a weird aftertaste.

Yes. I was surprised at the smoothness of the Jameson's. However, I never paid attention to the aftertaste.

This Coffey Whiskey is certainly unusual, but I'm liking it.

To your health!
Thanks!

We're making a T-bone (filet for the Mrs. and the strip steak for me) via the reverse sear method tonight.

Crash-hot spuds, and a veggie to be determined.

Remember, an alcoholic is someone whom you don't like who drinks more than you do.

got this as a gift from a patient today

"One of the first pair of entries in the Glenfiddich Experimental Series – a whisky finished in casks seasoned with India Pale Ale. The Speyside Craft Brewery created a special beer which was aged in ex-Glenfiddich casks for a month before they were returned to the distillery and filled with whisky for a three-month finishing period. The result is a vibrant and fruity dram."

That sounds like something to try...

Purchased a bottle of Laphroaig yesterday. Haven't opened it yet.

Oh me too. Was thinking the above would make a nice gift for someone who appreciates his whisky as well as a good IPA. Namely my husband who has been a saint during my bout with the flu. I was pretty needy and miserable. :baby:
