Sort of her Rev. Wright moment?

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I thought you chaps celebrated people with eccentric religious beliefs. Wasn't that what America was for?

I must admit, out of all the vaguely comical individuals, she is the one I find a little scary.

But, of course, it wasn't to be looked at when it was Obama's minister who damned America.

Nothing to see here. Move on.

It wouldn't open completely for me. Only read the line that said she was a member. Was, was, was,!
He stayed till it came public. Your wrong Mic, don't move on, stop and stare at the changing of the attack mode from Palen to Bachman. Sad.

The actual belief, when explained, is much less controversial.

Joel Hochmuth, the communications director [of the church], did his best to oblige. On the matter of the Antichrist, he said, "Some people have this vision of a little devil running around with horns and red pointy ears. Luther was clear that by 'Antichrist' [he meant] anybody who puts himself up in place of Christ. Luther never bought the idea of the Pope being God's voice in today's world. He believed Scripture is God's word."

Oh, Kincaid, that's no fun.

Meanwhile, at another place I read a piece that, with nothing other than a study that says people can pick gay or straight by their facial picture, alleges that Bachmann's husband is in fact gay.

The media slaughter of the latest GOP woman candidate begins. Vile.

Won't make a lick of difference to the members of the media, and the members of this forum, who'd rather demonize her.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!

The article sounds like of a list of theological arguments that are incorrect but at least may be defended.

God Damn America - not so much.

Imagine Ms. Bachmann belonging to the church of God Damn America - that would be a story.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Actually, I find vaginas of supreme importance.

I think that is not entirely true. It often feels like the Democrat party claims women (and minorities of both genders) as their constituency alone. If anyone strays off their reservation they must be utterly repudiated.

What a brain dead article. The baptists are much more anti pope than the Wisconsin Synod, yet no one published any article about how Jimmy Carter's or Mike Huckabee's or Bill Clinton's church teaches that the pope is the anti-Christ.

I am surprised that you, Jon, would think this is some sort of "Rev Wright moment". What did you mean by that?

Umm, that this was a moment where she would have to disassociate herself from the actions/belief a church she attended.

WHat on earth else would one possibly mean by such a statement?

Well, given the generally stupidity of the article, one could mean almost anything by it, as if there were any direct parallel to be drawn between Obama's close friendship with a vile racist such as Wright and Bachmann's general membership in a church that holds some doctrines that can only be intelligently understood in respect to the American expression of a 16th century German reformation polemic.

I am not sure what you were getting at.

If she's getting ripped now over this, just you wait and see what they do to Romney and Mormonism if he gets the nod.

Romney's a pretty slow-moving target because of his flip-flopping on healthcare and abortion - they might not even have to start on headlines making jokes about morons. Which is a shame, as I love a good moron joke.
