My daughter has some friends over. They're having a major dinner and are all in costume for the midnight premier showing tonight. She's been cooking for three days, a multi course meal, all from scratch and the Harry Potter Cookbook. Recipes the characters have been known to eat, something from every book.

She's amazing. Did a proper menu card and all. They are having:

Canapes
Creamy Onion Soup
Hot Rolls
Glazed Carrots
Roasted Potatoes
Roast Chicken

Pumpkin Juice
Butterbeer

and three desserts:

Pumpkin Pasties
Treacle Tart (which is really quite an amazingly well done effort)
Coconut Ice

Everything is very, very good. Color me impressed.

Sounds fun! Pics?? At least of the food?

Well, the food has been consumed, but we'll have pics of the costumers. My daughter is Hermoine, and we have a Haggrid, Delores Umbridge and Luna Lovegood.

I don't know! We were fast asleep when she came in. I'd bet she did. They'd have to pull out all the stops for this.

No spoilers, I promise. I've read the book but can't remember the story details.

It opened here last night, some people waited in line for hours.

Mik - will she need to jump through hoops to get in? Or does she already have tickets?
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

We purchased our tickets 2 weeks ago! Though will still wait in line for about an hour. Going early so we get good seats!

I can't imagine doing that when you can go in a week or so with no line. But that's just me.

Me too. But it's fun for her. We were at the red carpet for the Hollywood world premier of the 5th movie, but did not go in.

She had tickets a couple weeks ago and has been planning this. It was very, very successful.

Friday
Senior Carp
Today's schedule for my kids will go like this:

8am to 12pm Junior Lifeguard Training
1pm to 5pm rehearsals for "Seussical"
7pm to 930pm opening performance of "Seussical"
10pm to midnight-ish Harry Potter movie
1am "sleepover" at my house

There will be about 50 kids from their school going to see "Seussical" and Harry Potter, most with robes and wands and buttons that say "Neville for President".

When I dropped them off at the beach this morning, all they cared about was the movie.
