HOLY CARP!!!
I much prefer the Calvin strips where he imagined himself as an adult - especially the one with him and Susie playing house. Now, those were hilarious.

I feel like I have to come in and defend myself, because I didn't like this idea. So here's the article where I got it. And let it be known that I think the writer from NPR hit the nail on the head: http://www.npr.org/blogs/krulwich/2011/05/31/136817328/calvin-hobbes-and-comic-book-biology?sc=fb&cc=fp

No. HELL no. Watterson knew when and how Calvin and Hobbes should ride their wagon into the sunset. Don't mess with it!!!!

Thanks a lot. Now I've wasted an entire day googling and reading various Calvin & Hobbes strips, as well as some Bloom County.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

HOLY CARP!!!
I liked those strips. They were cute. No reason to get so upset... not like they're canon or anything.
Civilisation, I vaguely realized then - and subsequent observation has confirmed the view - could not progress that way. It must have a greater guiding principle to survive. To treat it as a carcase off which each man tears as much as he can for himself, is to stand convicted a brute, fit for nothing better than a jungle existence, which is a death-struggle, leading nowhither. I did not believe that was the human destiny, for Man individually was sane and reasonable, only collectively a fool.

I hope the gunner of that Hun two-seater shot him clean, bullet to heart, and that his plane, on fire, fell like a meteor through the sky he loved. Since he had to end, I hope he ended so. But, oh, the waste! The loss!
