ZOOOOOM!
Incidentally, in non-fiction today we had a seminar on Abraham Lincoln. It's pretty interesting to hear folks from halfway around the world give their opinions on your own country's history.

Tradition's roots lie at Blandford

Okay c'mon. You gotta admit, that's a target-rich name if ever there was one. I mean seriously, Blandford? Is that just up the road from Drabville?
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Some American town names are funny, sure, but Australia takes the cake for downright goofy.

Wooloomooloo. Tom Ugly. Come By Chance. Wagga Wagga.

Okay you made me look it up.

For one, Come By Chance, Canada is small. VERY small. Population 265. Seems like the only reason it exists is to supply manpower to the Come By Chance refinery.

BUT! Come By Chance, New South Wales is smaller. By half. And it seems to have been established for no particular reason. Just a handful of families getting together and saying, hey, let's live here.

Weird.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Abraham Lincoln visited Petersburg in the final days of the Civil War. He met with Ulysses S. Grant in the parlor of my great-great grandfather's house to discuss Lee's pending surrender at Appomattox. It was the last time the two of them ever saw each other. Grant went to Appomattox, and Lincoln returned to Washington, where he met his fate at Ford's Theater.

The house still stands and is on the National Register of Historic Places. I think it's very cool that our family legacy includes this piece of national history.

You can never get enough of what you don't need to make you happy.

Better than living in Nameless, TN!

NAMELESS, Tenn. -- It may be Nameless, but it will have an identity.

Saturday will be Nameless Heritage Day in Nameless -- a tiny town in Jackson County. The town's museum will be open for visitors, serving up Moon Pies and other treats from days gone by.

The town got its name from postal workers because residents couldn't agree on a name for the town in the 1800s.
