Please don't start another stupid pissing contest today over what YOU think is appropriate or not on Memorial Day.
Sorry, I wasn't trying to start a pissing contest so much as retain the dignity and purpose of the holiday.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

My Daughter - currently in the Navy.
My nephew - served in the Marines.
My father in law - lost so many friends in WWII
And my nephew Drew - died from wounds received in Iraq.

There is IMO respect mixed in for those currently in the service, and those that have served, although today we reflect and pay homage to those that died while in service to us all. And there are many currently that serve, that will also pay the ultimate with their lives, in the future. So, there is some overlap in feelings, but that's OK.

For me, it certainly is a day of reflection, some quiet reflection, and remembrance.
But, it's also a day for BBQ ribs, corn, family, and some really cool war movies!!!

HOLY CARP!!!
I was lucky enough to get to visit Annapolis and DC this weekend. Lots of Memorial Day activity. I saw a seemingly endless Patriot Guard Rider parade around the mall.

Thinking of Drew, Rainman.

I volunteer at a local park which has a statue for the local war dead of WW-I. We had a wreath-laying ceremony at noon.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Kenny served in the Navy.
And yes I served in the USAF
But what I'm proudest of is my four older brothers served
in WWII. And three actually saw combat.

Next weekend I'm going to the WWII Memorial in DC.
This past week I took the liberty of going on line and registering My four brothers, and their service. Nice to know their names will allways be there.
