Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Also the movie "The Fighting Sullivans".

I offer my utmost respect for the men and women who have died in the service of our country, and to their loved ones.

OT, I forgot to write on your wall this morning, but you are in my thoughts too.
I appreciate you guys. You gave up good years of your youth to commit to your countries.
Some of you died doing that.
Thank you for committing.

The Memorial Day program was wonderful here today. The high school band does an awesome rendition of Inchon. That's my favorite part of the program.

Local people who died during each conflict starting with the Civil War were honored today during a roll call. Their names, locations, and date of death were read by local veterans. The main speaker included info about many of our living heroes in the community.

It was wonderful and well done. God bless our veterans.

we gathered for an outdoor Mass in the military section of our cemetary... very awesome and VERY windy and threatening weather day.

I forget that my own director and her husband are retired military veterans.

Thanks to all who have served.
it behooves me to behold

I just read that at my High School, the class of 1965 lost nine young men in Viet Namm. May be a record for any one class in the U S A. I had never known this.

Re Vets - lets save that for Veterans Day. Today is about the fallen, let it not be diluted.

George - thanks for posting that article about the Sullivan brothers. I had always thought that their death caused the Navy to start separating brothers, I didn't realize that was already the policy but that the Sullivan's had argued for and received an exception.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I don't think it dilutes it at all. There's no limitation on when it is appropriate to appreciate those who have served. Even OT.

There's no limitation on when its appropriate to thank people for going to work everyday or raising their kids to be nice people.

But I'm not going to choose Memorial Day to do it.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I always feel a bit uncomfortable on Veterans Day in the US since in both the UK and Canada November 11 has a very different, more somber feel, much closer to Memorial Day here.

Please don't start another stupid pissing contest today over what YOU think is appropriate or not on Memorial Day. I've already well demonstrated my respect.
