Your home is about to be destroyed...take your pick..fire, water, etc.

You have ten minutes to take whatever you or your family can carry.

What do you take?

Nothing springs to mind that I'd really miss.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

I can leave the BGE where it is and pick it up after the fire. :D

The boy and the Bosie.

And my external hard drive.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

You know, it probably is a good idea to think this through in advance.

apple
one of the angels
it would take me 7 minutes to open the safe.. the kids would be grabbing clothes from the laundry room, I'd gather the cash and dash out the door.. probably the main CPU too. now if mr. apple were helping we could load up the trucks and trailer with food, blankets, things to sell.
it behooves me to behold

Not too long ago, a lot of people would be quick to respond with "photographs." I guess that changes quite a bit now. Though I think most people still have lots of special pictures that are not yet scanned or to be found on any digital device.

Having moved far from my "stuff" for a decent period of time, it makes me evaluate better what Iīd REALLY miss. Truth is, not much. All the trinkets, mementos, the special items that I carefully placed in storage -- most of them Iīve forgotten about, and if I were to stay here forever and never see those items again I wouldnīt shed any tears.

The people in my life (and the puppy  ), and I guess an external hard drive. Aside from that, everything else can either be replaced, or isnīt all that important once I let it go.

I must have a prodigious quantity of mind; it takes me as much as a week, sometimes, to make it up.

And the end of all our exploring
Will be to arrive where we started
And know the place for the first time.

The exercise has two purposes.
It taught me that I have nothing that is both important and portable.

I'd take my cash before I took my family dog pictures. I loved Fluffy as much as the next sibling but she never was very photogenic.

By thinking on this you find...

A) What is really important in your life. And...

B) If an actual emergency or bugout situation occurred, what do I need? Not want, but need?

My go-bag.

EDIT
That's in addition to my usual bag, that is. And shoes, if I'm not wearing any. Then it's out the door.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

You misunderstood. I think he meant to say that his first choice is the jewelry which he uses to decorate his family dog pictures.

My sorted priority list:

Kids&wife, important documents, cash, piano, toothbrush, socks, contents of the fridge, newspaper, hardwood floor, lamps, our oil heating system, garbage cans, mother-in-law.

I've a go-bag too. So that, the cell charger, a warm coat, shoes + my purse. That's all secondary to the kid. It could take a full 5 minutes to get his rear in gear. We'd be leaving in my truck. And like a few here on board, it's always half-full of gas.

I think I'm going to pack some Gu's and Cliff bars in my go-to bag. I could keep these in the truck too. What the heck, eh, they're cheap.
