Not.

http://www.poynter.org/latest-news/top-stories/129708/factchecking-obama-birther-controversy-was-3-4-of-newshole-economy-was-39/

Today, the President said:
Quote:

…two weeks ago, when the Republican House had put forward a budget that will have huge consequences potentially to the country, and when I gave a speech about my budget and how I felt that we needed to invest in education and infrastructure and making sure that we had a strong safety net for our seniors even as we were closing the deficit, during that entire week the dominant news story wasn’t about these huge, monumental choices that we’re going to have to make as a nation. It was about my birth certificate. And that was true on most of the news outlets that were represented here.

Umm. No, Mr. President, not even close:

In fact, looking at who covered what, here's the results:

Quote:

MSNBC
including “The Ed Show,” “Hardball,” “The Last Word,” and “The Rachel Maddow Show”

28% of airtime studied was devoted to the 2012 election
10% of airtime studied was devoted to Obama
A subset of that Obama airtime was coded “citizenship and religion rumors” to include “birther” coverage, which was 92% of the Obama coverage

Fox
including “Special Report with Bret Baier,” “Fox Report w/ Shepard Smith,” “O’Reilly Factor,” “Hannity”

16% of airtime studied was devoted to 2012 election
5% of airtime studied was devoted to Obama
A subset of that Obama airtime was coded “citizenship and religion rumors” to include “birther” coverage, which was 8% of the Obama coverage

CNN
including “Situation Room,” “John King, USA,” “In The Arena,” and “Anderson Cooper 360″

11% of airtime studied was devoted to 2012 election
5% of airtime studied was devoted to Obama
A subset of that Obama airtime was coded “citizenship and religion rumors” to include “birther” coverage, which was 100% of the Obama coverage.

Nice to know that Fox has the President's back.

Yes, thank God for Fox News! They may yet turn every liberal minded head to the right, where it belongs!

Umm. No, Mr. President, not even close:
I suspect the pew study covers news shows only, not all the talking head crap that makes up the majority of cable these days.

So I think your method and conclusion are flawed.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

HOLY CARP!!!
Rachel Maddow - she's a journalist.

He chose a wrong word by using "dominant". But even though the economy is at the forefront of discussions, just the mere citing of the "birther" issue on news shows is an attention grabber.

I believe he held onto the long form certificate on purpose. Just to show America how fvcking stupid some people on the other side really are.

Now America knows just how low that other side can go. Swiftboat, etc. , they will say or do anything to leverage their power.

pathetic.

Just get used to another four years of Obama. The Right is wrong again.

Rachel Maddow - she's a journalist.
According to The Guardian, she's the "Top US News Anchor."
Quote:

The top US news anchor on why she prefers jokes to anger and why she is proud to be gay

It’s 10.05pm on a rainy Tuesday night in the MSNBC studio in the now famous New York address, 30 Rock, and Rachel Maddow – one of the highest profile news anchors in America and certainly one of the most popular with liberal viewers – has just finished another edition of her nightly eponymous prime-time show.

Just thought you'd want to know.

The constitutional scholar, the professor, the articulate guy chose a wrong word?

SAY IT ISN'T SO! Oh, the horror.

The fact that he had to address it in a press conference, to address it at all, confirms that this was a thorn in his side. He could have disposed of this issue years ago, and didn't. It took 3 years to get the law waived in Hawaii for this?

C'mon.

Yeah, he had more important things to do. He held the presser and flew to Chicago to appear on Oprah.

Like a laser, the man is.

You may not watch television, but surely, you know who O'Reilly, Maddow, Hannity, and Ed Schultz are. You know who hosts "Hardball," don't you?

But, to answer your point:

OK.

Your suspicion is incorrect. :P

I don't know who Ed Schultz is, actually. 'The Last Word' 'In The Arena' and 'Situation Room' are all new to me with your post.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
