That or the D-42. I played both while looking. Wasn't willing to fork out that much cash, so I purchased the HD-28 at a faction of the cost.

If someone offered me a D45, I sure as hell wouldn't turn it down.

I suppose I should have broken that up into 41 posts to help the cause.

Honestly, that's a really boring looking guitar. I love how Martins sound, but I don't really like their stolid, boring, completely functional aesthetic. I respect it, but I don't LIKE it. I prefer my guitars with just a little flash. Nothing over the top, though. I have some nice inlay on mine; I like looking at my guitar as well as playing it. ;)

their retail is $9999

even assuming u can get a better price im sure, ten grand is still alot of bucks.

i got a guild D25 cherry wood back in 1974...i remember it cost about 700 dollars in brooklyn.

at the time i sort of really wanted a martin but even then it was pricey.

here's a little youtube on my guild

Stolid is a little used word, as well as it should be. But well used when used well, as Schindler has done.

Look at the bright side...the D50 Koa is $50K...and that's production, not custom shop...

For 10K you'd only get a rather mediocre violin or cello (or grand piano). Isn't it cool that guitars are so cheap that you can buy a top class instrument for only $10K?

Actually, it'll be less than $10k.

I wouldn't buy one through the mail, but it's going to be south of eight grand:

Given that it's much, much easier to sound truly awful on a violin, however much it costs, also adds to the attractiveness of the guitar.

Anybody in the market for a vintage 1973 Fender Mustang?

I'm seriously considering selling it.

Looks nice.

I will probably not go with a Dreadnought.

And I want modern electronics inside.

I don't usually care about the name on the label when it comes to guitars.

Although I do own 3 Ibanez guitars(Acoustic, Electric and Bass) and I love every one of them.

Martins seem overpriced to me. Always have. I like them just fine when I play them in the store and they sound great blah blah blah. I just don't think the name is worth it.

At that price level I can guarantee you it isn't being made in PA.
