http://mathfail.com/2011/04/the-spinning-dancer-illusion.html![]() The illusion was created by web designer Nobuyuki Kayahara and the question is "Which direction is the dancer spinning?" That is, is the dancer is spinning clockwise or counter-clockwise? "If the foot touching the ground is perceived to be the left foot, the dancer appears to be spinning clockwise (if seen from above); if it is taken to be the right foot, then she appears to be spinning counterclockwise." A nice graphic that illustrates how the dancer can be observed as spinning in either direction is below. By simplying adding some lines to the original image you you can give direction to the dancer. The left image shows the dancer spinning clockwise, while the right image shows the dancer spinning counter-clockwise. ![]() |

Seeing the three at the bottom really screws with me. You can choreograph them. |
| The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it. | |

Identifying narcissists isn't difficult. Just look for the person who is constantly fishing for compliments and admiration while breaking down over even the slightest bit of criticism. We have the freedom to choose our actions, but we do not get to choose our consequences.

What helps me: looking at the 3 image set, where the two views are clearly distinguished, squint, so that you canīt see the colored lines outlining the legs. When I squint, all three images look the same. |

Ok, I see where I went wrong. If you only look at the one without the colored lines, it can be seen either way.. yep. |

This is similar to the "mask" illusion - this same thing can happen if you have a 3D mask - your brain can't tell which side is the "inside" of the mask, and which side is the "outside." It wants so desperately to create a face out of the geometry, that it will do so, even though it's a concave surface, and in reality looks nothing like the face. Mask Illusion |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

The ghost one works best if you watch it full screen - hard to see otherwise. |
