Not that anybody cares, but I'm about to cut back my FB account to relatives and people I know outside of TNCR. I don't really see the point of having a gazillion TNCR people as contacts on FB, when I talk to them here all the time, and Mrs. D'Oh feels a bit uncomfortable having pictures of the kids on FB where friends of friends of TNCR people can see them if FB unexpectedly changes its stupid security settings again.

So if you find yourself de-friended, please don't take it personally :)

(If it makes you feel bad, think how much worse I feel about having close-to-zero friends  )
1 fewer liberal friends on FB for me.
Compared to some of your buddies, I'm a bloody right-wing whackjob

I think we need to start differentiating between 'liberal' and 'American liberal'.

Gosh, we're being culled. Do we get a choice for our last dinner?
Heh. Somebody has me on ignore. Must have been that whole Fergus Falls incident.

I'd go and live in Fergus Falls right now if the wife would let me. Friendly people, cheap housing, and a cookie factory right in the middle of town - who could ask for more?

I could try using that line on my wife.

OT defriended me after I defended the prolife position on his page
Why did you have occasion to do that?
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

He was trying to make some point about what groups shouldn't be defunded and that seemed to include Planned Parenthood. After quite a long conversation, in his last post he claimed "I guess Steven has definitely left the building this time..." which is mind bogglingly hypocritical since he had prevented me from further participation.

Seems bad form to me to argue politics onsomeone elses wall. I guess lots of people do it though.

How is it bad form? He put up a political statement. Is there some FB etiquette that people are not supposed to speak their mind on FB if you disagree with someone?

It seems even worse form to tell someone that they are free to say whatever they want, and then cut them off. Don't you agree?

I don't think so, like I said, people seem to do it.

I wouldn't, though. To me it seems like visiting them in their home and getting in a fight with them.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

FB is a public forum. If you don't want people to disagree with you about things, it helps by not publicly saying things that are disagreeable.

I know. But I'm just telling you my view. I wouldn't post something argumentative on someone's wall, since the audience is really their friends and family.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

I'm only going to start being disagreeable after I've defriended everybody. Then, with a well-honed group of like-minded sophisticates, I can sit around laughing at those who've been left behind, secure in the knowledge that we'll have the last word.

FB is a public forum.
I thought FB is a social network. A place to meet friends, to exchange gardening tips and cooking reciepes, a place to post your cat's pictures. We all know that with friends you DO NOT talk politics or religion ! Sadly, FB became a "forum" with all the unpleasant quarels. Moreover, lately I am practically swamped by messages regarding Islam, muslims, videoclips of imams teaching the right way to beat your disobedient wife. I HAVE ENOUGH OF THIS ! I don't want more Islamofobia on my FB ! I don't care how they beat their wives or how they wipe their ass ! A friend of mine became the KK of FB posting every 5 minutes some political message ! I purged my friends pool quite a few times and I'm glad I did it.

Have a good day

That's my view. Before posting on someone's wall, it would occur to me that their Grandmother and Aunt Sophie, who just want updates on the kids, are going to read what I say.

If a FB friend posts a politcal rant I feel encouraged to joust with them, or support them, depending on how it correlates with my view. I always keep it clean and civil, however, if not always clever.

To set the record straight, you hadn't posted anything on that thread in at least two days before I took you off, and that was long after I made the comment about you seeming to have left - I figured you were finished.

Jon's got it exactly right.
