Fascinating. A group of marathon runners test an anthropological theory. http://outsideonline.com/adventure/travel-ga-201105-persistance-hunting-sidwcmdev_155715.html |

"Any man who would make an X rated movie should be forced to take his daughter to see it". - John Wayne There is a line we cross when we go from "I will believe it when I see it" to "I will see it when I believe it". Henry II: I marvel at you after all these years. Still like a democratic drawbridge: going down for everybody. Eleanor: At my age there's not much traffic anymore. From The Lion in Winter. | |

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
|
Makes perfect sense to me. If I was as hungry as our ancestors likely were I'd keep that meat on the hoof in sight too. |

HOLY CARP!!!

Very cool. But any spear hunters or bow hunters would probably become de facto "persistence hunters" after they'd wounded their prey. I'm not sure this is any sort of evolutionary paradigm shift? I'd be curious to know more about the "scientific debate" the article mentions. "Persistence hunting" in its pure form doesn't really pass the sniff test. I don't know how they could have kept the prey in sight for hours on end. |
| As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good? | |

I read the McDougall book referenced in the article, Born to Run. It's quite a fascinating read if you're at all into running. Some people are freakin' crazy. I (along with a couple of friends) hiked a 10 mile trail yesterday in the blue ridges. We ran the last three miles in 30 minutes. I'm dying today. There are people who do that for 100 miles. It's unbelievable. |
