Does anyone take Trump seriously?

Any time a potential candidate scares a leftwinger the way Trump scares Jon, then he's worth looking at. That's how you tell who would be a good president these days - the harder the leftwing works at marginalizing the person, the more qualified the person is...

As for my thoughts on Trump:

1. He doesn't wear a wig. For better or worse, that's his own hair.
2. He's an opportunist, a self promoter, and his track record shows that his political views shift and sway accordingly.
3. He has some very needed qualifications at this point in history.

I find it funny when I read someone who supports Obama attempt to call Trump's qualifications into question. Obama has absolutely no experience in anything. He's "written" two autobiographies before he even did anything, that fact alone should make you Obama supporters nervous... the first one as it turns out was written by someone else, the second one probably written by Obama, is so inferior to the first one (and to just about anything) that it not only proves the first one wasn't written by Obama, but also proves that he isn't even qualified to write down his own thoughts. Other than that, and being chosen by the dirty political machinery of Chicago politics, the man has no experience in anything. Every single thing on his resume is an inflated falsehood.

He's never managed a business, he's never managed a budget, he's never done a single thing. Put the man in charge of a business and he would drive it into bankruptcy within a year. Trump on the other hand knows how to run a business. He knows how to negotiate. Obama negotiates from an ideological position which is "America must lose so the rest of the world will like us, it's only fair". Trump on the other hand is accustomed to negotiate from a position of winning for the company.

Yes, he's a clown. No, I do not trust him to remain committed to a Conservative path. And I think if he doesn't get the republican nod and runs as an independent he will only split the vote and give Obama a chance to win - and the *only* way Obama has a chance to win is if the vote gets split, or the Republicans run another dud like they did the last time. But between Trump and Obama, Trump would be a thousand times better.

As for his qualifications, his qualifications are about the strongest we've seen of any candidate from either party in a decade or more.

He has bad hair, great reason to be against him.
Any one know any thing that maters why he should not
be considered? Seems to me he has a pretty good business head, if not a good haircut.
I say listen to his ideas when/if he runs. Then judge him on that.

He seems like such a joke to me.. to be a player on the political stage. His hair is ridiculous and his background so odd in my opinion.
I think he needs to be taken seriously because he's a serious man. I am not sure I'd support him, and I suspect most people simply favor him on name recognition and celebrity status -- the way most folks glommed on the Barack after the media made him their darling.

Maybe I should form the ABO party: "Anyone But Obama."

Something that occurred to me while in NYC and in Rockefeller Center - the Rockefellers gave something of lasting value to all the citizens of NYC and visitors alike (as well as restoration of Colonial Williamsburg here in Virginia); Donald Trump builds flashy buildings that are unaccessible to all but the richest citizens, and they primarily benefit him.

Interestingly, as far as celebrity goes, Trump's earnings are not at the top of the pile. He's actually comparable to Ryan Seacrest in annual earnings, at around $56MM if I recall correctly.

Horace: I'm not sure why he'd be discounted out of hand - but I seem to see a lot of that going around. I know that Couric was really upset that he mentioned going in and taking the Iraqi oil wells by force. She couldn't believe it. I assume he was making a point about "To the victor goes the spoils" which is a philosophy America has never lived by, contrary to the light in which we are frequently painted. We've given not insignificant sums of money to rebuild places where wars have taken place, rather than conquering those lands. I think he meant to point out that by all means we should be entitled to taking over the Iraq oil wells to suit our own interests, and that we certainly would do so if we were simply out there for our own interests.
I may be mistaken though, and he may actually want to march in and take the oil.

In any case - I haven't seen much for, or against at this point, but I'm admittedly out of the loop 1.5 years prior to the election.

Off the top of my head I seem to remember he picked up the tab and did the work on the Ice Scateing area in Central park.
Rush was doing his yearly show for M S the other day and he mentioned Trump gave him $100,00.00. That's two.

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

Tell that to the Indians. And the Mexicans.

(But I take your point, we certainly don't act like that these days)
