HOLY CARP!!!
after racing through the stieg larsson trilogy last summer, i have finally got around to seeing the first two swedish version movies.

i must say, they did a very good job, very close to the books, and it served as a great window into life in sweden.

the part of lisbeth salander was played extreemly well, and i can imagine its a difficult role to play.

the fact that its in swedish also lends authenticity, which would be lacking if it was in english.

and so, i think the english language production, which has yet to be released, may not be so successful, having to compete with a thoroughly competent swedish version.

i have still to see the third movie.

I was disappointed in the first movie, having just read the book. They weren't able to get all the characters, with all their stories, so I felt like something was missing. I so liked the way the book was paced - starting out slowly, switching between the characters stories slowly, then speeding up as things got more exciting. But I do agree the actress they used for lisbeth was really good. I haven't read or seen the next ones - though I hear the third movie is really good.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
I'm reading The Girl Who Played With Fire now, and I have to say I think it even better than Dragon Tattoo. I like the arc of Lisbeth Salander.

I've seen them all, and thought they were really well done. I like how you got a real sense of where the stories took place, nothing was prettied up. The characters in the movie looked like they really could be who they were portraying; no Hollywood glam crap going on. And I agree, the girl who played Lisbeth was really good.

Why on earth anyone felt the need to redo the films is beyond me. What a colossally stupid idea.

I think it was more spotting a market opportunity. Face it, Hollywood's version will make a mint.

I dunno. Could be a major flop. Even if Daniel Craig is in it.

I tried to read the first one, but I'd been on a Chuck Palahniuk kick, and found it too dull to really get into... Then, when there were two more with similar titles, it seemed too formulaic and I totally lost interest.

I met a girl a few months ago who has a dragon tattoo on her back. I asked her if I tried to ride it would it fly away... she said it would depend on where I put the fuel nozzle... true story..
