Ahh, sorry Ax. I re-read your post and see you were asking about Jodi.

Yes, she's has truly been pleasant and friendly for my entire stay on any of boards. (She's a great painter as well.)

haha, Ax. I know I've said some not so nice things along the way. (though the worst have usually gotten typed and then deleted before I hit "add reply" :sombrero: )

here's the scary thing - I typed piano world jodi into google a couple of hours ago (thinking I might be able to find some of those really old threads) and this thread showed up seventh from the top. Man, those search engines are fast. kinda creepy.

Here are some photos of some early members: http://www.pianoworld.com/forum_members/ForumMembers.htm (scroll down in the box - there are a few there that still post)

This is one of my favorite pics: :lol2:

Funny, I posed for that picture as a joke, kind of like "Wilson" on the old Home Improvement show, whose full face you never see. That was taken in the living room of the "dream home" I designed and built for the family back in '97. That's now two houses, and several dreams, ago. Now. I'm sitting here in my living room staring at that same piano, and those same books on the shelves behind (a set of the Harvard Classics printed in the late 1930's). And I can't believe it, but I still have that sweatshirt. It's past the point of actually wearing in public, but I still hold on to it and wear it around the house and yard. Man, I wish my hair was still mostly that color.

Yes, I remember the Wilson thing. That's why I love this pic. (is that obi wan knabe? or was that a different piano?) And I remember the pictures of your wonderful house. And the little windows (in the stairwell?) Very cool.

Speaking of old pictures - this picture (from the piano world site) was taken when we were here in CO in 99. Garden of the Gods:

This picture was taken a few weeks ago when my daughter was here for spring break - Garden of the Gods, and she didn't want her picture taken... :lol2:

That's funny, jodi, I remember that first picture of yours from back then, too. ^_^

And yes, little windows in the upper level of the stairwell/upstairs hall - plus the one little "kid window," just 8 inches off the floor, on the first floor level.

No, the piano isn't Obewan. Obewan was never really any good for playing, and was even worse after I was done with it. That one (sitting just a few feet away from me at the moment) is a Fuehr & Stemmer (who?) upright from 1911, which could hardly be considered a good piano, but which is more than fine for me, and I've heard several "real" pianists make beautiful music with it. It doesn't seem to know that it's supposed to be a junk piano, so I don't tell it, and it just keeps sounding pretty good - not perfect, but pretty good. I suppose it's doing its job, at a hundred years old, better than I will be when I'm the same age.

I just checked at Google Groups: My first post at RMMP was in 2001.

I was at PW, but I never posted in the OCR. Now I haven't followed PW for many years. Can't say I miss it.

PW is great when you are looking for a piano. At some point you've kind of heard all there is to hear about the industry.

Had to go back and check my profile there - April 2003. Of course, at the time was starting to do some piano shopping and looking for any info I could find. Came for the piano, stayed for the coffee :D

A very good friend from rmmp invited me:

Hello Radu!

After just visiting the chaos of RMMP, I do wish you would visit our
discussions on www.pianoworld.com.

Wading through the garbage and incivility on RMMP just doesn't seem
worth the effort to me. Attempts at actually helping people are
drowned out by choruses of illogic, poor knowledge, aggression, etc.
Pianoworld is not perfect and never can be, but it's a lot more
pleasant I think, and information for consumers a lot better
tempered. Also, friendships develop a lot more there, and many of us
have socialized in "the real world".

All The Best,

in 2/15/2004 and I joined PW as Rodolpho Portamento Fritzweil

PW is great when you are looking for a piano. At some point you've kind of heard all there is to hear about the industry.
And you can only give the advice "check out the larry fine book, and play as many pianos as you can get your fingers on and buy the one that speaks to you" so many times. :lol2: :lol2: :lol2:

Oct 2004.

I was at my first job after graduating, and was bored out of my mind. They had most chat-type sites blocked, but I found the OCR forum on PW and joined up to debate the 2004 election. Stuck around after the election (and cooled off a bit too), then in April 2005 I went to Italy on vacation. When I came back the OCR was closed but luckily someone sent me a link to TNCR, my one and only piano forum home since. Was living with Aqua later that year and mentioned TNCR a lot, he joined up and mentioned it to Opt too. So I guess it's Opt's turn to recruit!

I had to go to PW, log in, realize my avatar was no longer valid, before I could check my info.

I joined PW on 9/24/04 because I was back in the market trying to upgrade from my Kincaid console*. How funny to see when some people joined. In my mind I have invested many here with "gravitas", which I suppose equals age or experience, and yet I see I've been around even longer than some of those pillars of the board.

Also, makes me laugh to see that 89th Key joined less than a month after I did, as I clearly remember this young upstart coming in and tipping over the furniture and spilling the drinks - because by then I was a well-seasoned old timer! The mind plays funny tricks with memory.
