Closes at 10pm on the weekdays (that is, they don't just close down the doors, they kick your ass to the curb then, too. They clean out the building.) On the weekends, 6 ****ing pm. Neat. |

Those times seem reasonable to me, and they're later than the library closing times were when I was studying. |

Compared to my undergrad school it's pretty ludicrous; they have their library open 'till 2 am weekdays, and yeah they shut the doors at 8pm on the weekends but they don't scour the halls for students to kick them out. I've never heard of a school kicking out students studying, and at 6pm no less. I mean sh!t, if this were summertime the sun would still be out. Then again I noticed a distinct lack of 24/7 stores around so it could be North America is just used to crazy hours. |

I'm rarely out late at night, so I don't really know about 24/7 places, but it's no surprise to hear there aren't many. And Sydney probably has longer opening hours than anywhere else in Australia - in some towns most of the shops are shut on Sundays. |

Oh yeah, Saturdays too. A lot of places near me have signs saying "OPEN SEVEN DAYS!" on them, indicating proudly they're open Saturday and Sunday. ...but usually only for 6 or so hours. Seems the 7-11 business model hasn't yet come around, which is bad for me because I seem to be preprogrammed not to get anything done during normal waking hours. |

Eh, that kind of sucks, man. What kind of lending policy do they have? A good one can kind of make up for sucky hours. |

Actually it's a fan damn TASTIC lending policy. Ten books at once, 6 weeks to keep the books, and they're pretty fast at getting materials not at the library. (Which for me is all of them, pretty much.) You can keep the books longer than 6 weeks though, often times without even getting an extension. You can check online to see if someone's requested the book behind you, and if not, you can keep it 'till the end of the semester with no late fees. |

Oh, I'm actually surprised they have a limit as to how many books you can check out at once. But the lack of late fees is awfully nice! |

We had an all-night library in college, and a shuttle to get you there and back safely. And a 24-hour corner store that sold Diet Cokes and Oreos. No shuttle to that though. That was riskier all around. |

We have a 24-library with a built-in cafe! Unfortunately, the cafe is NOT a 24-hour operation.

Word. However, they ARE one of the only places around here selling Krispy Kremes (heavenly TM). That makes up for a lot. |

Our library at Ryerson also had early closing hours (though I believe they were open until 9 or 10 on the weekends). But to top it off, the library was on the 5th and 6th floors. When they close down the building, they also do other ridiculous things, like lock the doors on the stairwell. So when you are a tad late leaving the library and decide to take the stairs rather than waiting for the elevator, you get trapped inside the stairwell and have to stand there banging on the door until an annoyed security guard comes to rescue you. |

Hahahaha... That sucks. 24/7 establishments, (particularly gas stations that serve hot food), are a godsend to patrol deputies, everywhere.
