You guys must be self-employed or retired. Or so famous everyone waits for you :bluewink:

Actually there are clocks everywhere, and a mobile will substitute. But mobiles don't move me like the tick of a watch.

Very nice, Jon and Mark. Breitling makes some handsome watches, but for some reason, they've never really appealed to me. Then again, a lot of people think highly of Rolex, but by and large, I find them a bit gaudy... I really don't like a lot of the Tag Heuer watches either, but the Aquaracer series is an excellent set.

I bought a Rolex in the late 80's in the Caribbean. I paid $1800.
for it. They were much cheaper there, plus no tax. Couple years ago I sent it back for a new Crown and cleaning. They tell me it's now worth over $5200. Doing better then most of the stocks I bought.

What appeals to me in a watch is the mechanism, and the engineering of it. The history of the watch is pretty fascinating, and the fact that it works at all, in any sort of consistent manner is amazing (given the relative age of the basic mechanism).
It's the same thing that drew me to working on pianos really - lots of tiny parts interacting in ways that seem counter-intuitive and are yet ingenious. Some appreciate this, and notice a difference between "good" and "great," and some don't - that's what makes the world go round.

Bach - that is a very handsome watch indeed. They're built in Schaffhausen, where I have a bit of family.

Mark - I like Breitling watches a lot. My best friend from childhood received one as a gift when he got his MBA from MSU. And that sort of fits with the brand - it's why I'll never have one. Very attractive watch though, and a well built one.
