Art gallery.

There are several that I could drop large quantities of cash at. (How's that for a baaaad sentence, eh. sorry Aqua)

big paintings, lots of them
^-^

Bike shops. Easy. Also computer stores.

No bookstores, I get all mine online.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

Guitar Center.

If it wasn't for the fact that everybody in there except me has 90% of their body covered in tattoos, and has pierced every available flap of skin, I'd be in there every week.
What do you mean "we", have you got a mouse in your pocket?

They come in the huge freaking variety packs, along with Vitamin C and Echinacea so yeah I suppose.

Gotta go with Costco on this one. (h/t NS.)

Watches of Switzerland comes to mind.

I depart Costco with an attic load of toilet paper & kitchen paper; hundreds of bin-bags, pizzas that won't fit in the oven, 6 new shirts and all the wifes stuff too. Quite often spend more than £200. And spend the rest of the day unpacking it. I really truly dislike Costco, the most soul-less shop ever with the longest queues.

On the other hand there is Ivor Mairants music centre. Sells guitars, gorgeous guitars you'd pass it without noticing, tucked off Oxford Street:

Yep. I love Swiss watches. Tag Heuer, in particular. :thumb: Good call, Andy.

Frank: I love those both - and can't afford either, which is why I went with a different titanium body with the same movement. :)

Huh, I did not notice that before, that you wear your watch on your right hand.

Are you left-handed?
Just curious.

Thanks, KB. :) One was a birthday gift, and the other, I just saved up and bought for myself. :) I like yours, too.

Frank: Thanks - lots of folks don't realize that Swiss Army makes some higher-end stuff. This one costs about half as much as the "lower" Tags, but still a decent chunk for a watch. I can't spend what I'd like to on watches, so I have to settle for variety!
I have a Vostok automatic which I really like for "dressier" occasions, and a couple mid-higher end Seikos that I really like.
The dealer where I got this Swiss Army carries Ball which I really like - automatic high-end swiss movements, tritium tubes, and great design:

Ax: Due to having a fistula on my left forearm, I can't wear anything on my left wrist. I wear the blue Taylor's Gift bracelet in memory of my kidney donor, but it's not restricting at all, and doesn't push on my anastomosis. I can't restrict blood-flow through the fistula at all, as it's an extension of my radial artery, just below the surface of my skin (read: very high rate of bloodflow). It buzzes, and "whirrs", and visibly pulsates, so I can't have anything touching it, including a watch. When I began dialysis in 2002 I had to become a right-arm watch wearer.

I wore a Seiko dive watch, during my six years in the Army. Aside from having to replace the band for a sturdier Velcro model, I never had an issue with it. I still have it, and it's still ticking right along. It has Panamanian and Saudi sand in the bezel... One of these days, I'll send it back to the factory for complete disassembly, cleaning, and refurbishing.

This is like mine, except mine's all scarred up, scratched, and most of the paint is off of the bezel:

The thing I like about it, is that there are no alarms or any other fancy crap. It's just a strong, basic watch. (Nothing worse than being on a night operation, and have someone's watch alarm suddenly going, "dee deet! dee deet! dee deet!" It's a sure way to get an ass-kicking.

jon, there are some brands which make my heart jump, IWC is one of them, and that is one I'd buy, a lovely dress watch, providing you have a big enough frame to carry it.
Meanwhile, for those of us with other committments, there's always this:
http://www.newsstand.co.uk/661-Watch-Magazines/13186-Subscribe-to-0024-Magazine-Subscription.aspx

Perhaps not exactly in the spirit of the thread, but how about choosing another very personal item, a pen. In March I spent an interesting hour going through various types and was amazed at how differently they write, cost, are built, and most importantly feel in your hand. I finally picked out one that was just right for me:

Just finished paying off the loan for our Bluthner earlier this month so may go back and buy it.
