Welcome back to one of the most agreeable threads ever, the feeling has been pretty much unanimous |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

apple: I am so glad you are ok. I saw the post on FB this morning, but didn't get a chance to check it during the day. My desk at work has horrible problems getting a good wireless signal. And my FB app was being a pain. They give you anti-seizure meds? If it's pretty strong, it might be Dilantin. I was on that when I was last in hospital for seizures back in 2005. As a baby, i was on Phenobarbitol. I know first hand that seizures suck. |

Apple, I don't know much of the background info as I don't come by all too often, but my thoughts and prayers are with you as you are home and recuperating. You are fortunate to have so many caring friends, in the real world as well as in this virtual world. Hope they gave you some good dope. (can I say that here...?) |

i posted this on facebook.. just a bit of update. I sure appreciate everyone's thoughts and prayers. I am happy to be home and enjoying the new me. My brain was definitely scrambled or fried. I simply do not remember so many things.. like what kind of tea I used to drink everynite or where it is. I look at my clothes in my closet and wonder what type of disorder prevailed upon me to hang up so many things that are not appropriate to wear.. clothes that are too small or not the right color. I am not supposed to drive for quite some time and the drugs I am on are absolutely 'mega'. Fortunately, I live in the most remarkable house and on the most remarkable land. I am glad we got the moving and building business out of the way. John, my brain damaged brother came over for dinner. He is so cool. He brought me 20 bags of soil and just ate a bunch of meat and salad. He was quite interested in MY brain damage. .. what it was like, how he could help. I love him so much. As usual, he left without saying goodbye. .. just John. There is absolutely no way that I can play for Hosannah.. I'm not even sure I can spell it. I can read music tho.. and the organ pedals still work for me. I don't know that I would be able to know when to come in at the right time tho. It will be fascinating to chart my progress or lack of it. They don't know if this brain meningioma is a part of my metastatic disease or just this benign thing that seems to have been there all along. I have pictures from 2008 that the neurologist will compare to pics taken this week. My oncologist seems to think that I will be around for quite some time, and that taking it out would be easy. I would of course have a lovely scar and a patch of missing hair.. but what is that compared to total baldness? . |

Glad to hearyou're feeling better, Apple. Perhaps this is a question for the doctors - why at this point would they still be calling it 'benign?' |

I don't know... We will compare the MRIs this week, maybe tomorrow. It very likely could be metastatic disease, but both neurologists were pretty confident that it is benign... I talked with my oncologist yesterday, and she seemed to think it would be a good idea to remove it, that it would be easy to remove,.. a tube up my nasal passage maybe. She thinks my cancer is very manageable and I should be around for quite some time and surgery is a better option than this mega drug I am on. We'll decide this week. I am amazed how much memory I lost. I don't know where I am supposed to put the glass bowls that I serve vegetables in.. where they belong in my kitchen. I have to search around. Reading music is a piece of cake tho, altho I certainly do not think I can perform my accompanist jobs. Still, I seem to remember many things.. I just don't know where blocks of information are and have to refind them. Every drawer I open is a novel experience. The neurologists said memory loss is normal as well as regaining function. I had noticed some uber weird dreams the last several weeks. Last nite I dreamed I was the chef for the world... in charge of everyone's food. It was sometime in the future and the food was cooked in the bowels of the earth inside of hatches that could be accessed 5 stories below the surface of the world. I had decided that seal, noodle soup was the best, most nutritious dish to serve the masses. Tho fishy, it tasted ok. the seal meat was preformed in red and white balls, which I cooked in the thermal waters of the center of the earth. I added lots of cilantro, parsleys and herbs along with garlic, onions and whole wheat noodles. Countries sent representatives for their allotment. Someone else provided organic apples. My sons are on a super health kick and love cooking. I am ok with all this. They both have lost weight, are lifting weights and look awesome. Altho I can cook, I am glad people are sending food over.. I just don't remember the sequence of food acquisition and preparation. Everything is novel. My larder is extremely well stocked. I have every grain, noodle, spice and sauce invented it seems. I regularly cook foods from every culture, so meals should be fun. I haven't actually just sat and read a book for ages. I started 'Dancing at the Rascal Fair', by Ivan Doig, yesterday.. It's wonderful book. I have a completely stocked art studio, sewing station and tons of music. Life is good and I am not distressed.
