Poor job debunking, it can only 'debunk' the claim by ignoring benes.

Quote:

Among lawyers, for example, the average pay in the federal government was about $127,500 a year in 2009, according to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. The average lawyer in the private sector earned $137,540. And the starting salary at large law firms in Washington, D.C. -- where most government lawyers work -- is $160,000, and can grow to hundreds of thousands of dollars a year, according to the National Association for Law Placement.

but then later:

Quote:

The government does offer, on average, more generous benefits to workers than the private sector. OPM data shows the federal employees earned an average of $27,317 in pension and health benefits in 2010. That's more than double the average private sector benefits of $10,589, according to statistics from the federal Bureau of Economic Analysis.

So adding back the 10,5 puts the Federal lawyers over the top of their private counterparts.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Job security is way higher and stress is way lower as well.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Not to mention, it still isn't drawing apples to apples. Average lawyer? How about comparing types of lawyers as well. That would have a big effect.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I am so adjective that I verb nouns!
"A disproportionate number of federal employees are professionals, such as managers, lawyers, engineers and scientists. "

I would like to see real numbers on this -- I'd bet the vast majority of Fed workers are paper pushing drones of some sort - not even management level -- which would make the $101K average outrageously generous.
The dogma lives loudly within me.

Lifestyle concerns are huge when comparing your average private sector job with a job that has two all-important things, job security and a pension.

A job with perfect job security and a pension allows you to spend pretty much every penny you make and still sleep like a baby. The material lifestyle difference that affords you would be difficult to overstate.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Yeah. Look at attrition rates among Federales compared to private sector. If they were undercompensated (in totality) you wouldn't see such a gap there.

In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
