Upgrade from the Intel Atom (move to a dual-core or something) and it'll look like a respectable spec. ![]() May be Steve Jobs will revive the Apple ][ shell with MacMini-class innards now? |

Wow, I never thought I'd say that retro wasn't cool. Fugly. I never had exposure to those first computers. My first real experience to a PC was some kind of Apple machine in college in maybe 1985. Green screen, no graphics, command prompts. |

The atom is a dual core Ax. I'd like to see a quad-core in there though...

My first Apple love was the IIE - hours of LOGO playing were my first programming experience. This was federally sponsored in the school of course, and did me no good. My real learning came on my own, when I first started writing BasicA scripts, and Batch files in DOS. I wasn't yet a teen, and didn't know anyone else with a personal computer - it was so awesome. Everything was unchartered, and friends were amazed that I could type a single character command from the DOS prompt and play back sounds, or display images. That was my old 80x88, and had a 25MB HDD ( a very expensive upgrade we got after awhile). When I was in high school and did my first computer repair, it was to put a 1200 Baud modem on board - and then the world really opened up. |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

I had the TI 99 4A I believe. I do not feel one little bit nostalgic about it. Ugh. |

We had a TRS-80 clone. I think it's still at my parents house. It had Microsoft Basic, and I dabbled in 6809 assembler. Of course, I had a lot more acne back then, so I wasn't really missing out on anything. |

The 6809 was a Motorola microcomputer (I still have a couple of these chips in my garage). The TRS-80 had a Zilog Z-80 processor. Or, is that where the "clone" thing comes in? |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TRS-80_Color_Computer 6809E according to this. Maybe there were two versions? Oops - I just checked the write-up. This isn't really a TRS-80. Obviously, their marketing people were very imaginitive. |
