My robust and healthy brother in law, Eric, went to the hospital with a strep throat. It went into his neck and spinal column and he now has absesses inside the column that is slowly paralyzing him. So, today they are entering his body through the throat to attempt to remove the absesses.. he is very sick. They called in specialists from the national center for infectious disease to analyze the him. He needs a really good team.

Very best wishes to him, and to the team of surgeons and specialists.

Wow - it can happen to the healthiest of them. So sorry to hear, and my thoughts and prayers for him and your family as he goes through these procedures.

Ouch. Hope Eric gets better soon, apple.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Sorry to hear this Apple. Thinking of you and your family today - I pray that everyone (including your brother in law) has the strength to persevere through whatever course this ends up taking.

Oh my. I offer my prayers, of course.

That's crazy! I've never heard of strep infecting the spinal column. Rheumatic fever and heart involvement, yes, but the spine?! Also sending prayers your way.

the first thing I thought of when I heard the news, Kathy was you.. how a seemingly healthy person can be suddenly felled in a swoop.

Oh man - I'm so sorry, apple! I'm glad he's 'ok' now, but what a crazy stressful thing for everyone! I'll keep him (and you!) in my thoughts!
