I just had occasion to be Google Earthing some buildings in Long Beach, CA and spotted these numbers on top. The number 15 is on top of 4 buildings here. What do these numbers mean? ![]() Latitude 33-45'59 N Longitude 118-11'45 W You can enter this in "Fly To" 33 45'59 N 118 11'45 W |

The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy | |

The "baskets" around the perimeter look like what exist on helipads. Also - when you zoom in within Google Earth - the one on the right clearly says "Emergency." |

My guess? the landing pad (LLA) is a 15 M diameter, so it's a sign to the helicopter pilot for clearance. dims here |

I like the helipad guess. I thought I'd look around NY to see if there were similar markings. Look what I found. 40 42'15N 74 00'29W |

That is the maximum number of people allowed to jump off that building in any single day. |

What if they have "18"? If the chopper arrives from another angle, it could look like "81"! Haha |

BTW: Totally loving this GPS scavenger hunt... It reminds me of an image from Egypt I read about. The article had a "what's this" sort of quiz with some Google Earth pics - and this one from Egypt was so confusing, that I went and found it on google earth by combing over the desert. In fact - writing this made me want to do it again - so I went and found it again - not as cool a couple years later, as it seems so obvious what it is, even from higher up - but the original image we were guessing on was high up, and not so obvious. 22 34'22 N - 28 30'25 E Edited by KlavierBauer, Apr 7 2011, 10:44 AM.

Reminds me of the Star of David found on top of the headquarters for Iran's national airline, see pic below. I just looked it up on google satellite and see that they have now added a dark square object over it so as to hide it now!![]() Current satellite image: http://maps.google.com/maps?f=q&source=s_q&hl=en&q=iran+air+headquarters,+iran&aq=&sll=35.696372,51.318879&sspn=0.001035,0.002747&ie=UTF8&rq=1&ev=p&split=1&filter=0&t=f&ecpose=35.69644476,51.31873003,1512.81,-0.143,0,0&radius=0.09&hq=iran+air+headquarters,+iran&hnear=&ll=35.696445,51.31873&spn=0.001035,0.002747&z=19 |

The star of David was live as of a couple months ago - wonder when/why they covered it up. IMO it's the greatest middle finger every toward Iran, as the guys who developed/built the building were Jewish, and it's AT AN AIRPORT. Amazing that it took decades, and the invention of google's satellite photos of the glove to let them know that 10 feet above their heads was a huge tribute to Judaism. Derp - I see what you mean now - sorry.
