What kind of eggs do you buy? White/Brown, Grade AA, A, or B

I was in WF grocery store today, buying the usual AA brown eggs. I noticed people buying the A eggs that cost more money.

So, after coming home, I did a little research on eggs. Here is a link: http://grantextension.nmsu.edu/documents/eggs--how-to-buy-eggs.pdf

For fun, please let me know if you have a preference for a certain grade and color of eggs.

I have a coworker who sells free-range/organic eggs from his own chickens on his farms. They're darker, and the shells are very hard - much harder to crack than the typical white store bought egg.

We get what the dairy delivers - not sure of the type/grade, but I'd be all for moving to the heartier organic eggs.

Whatever falls out of my neighbor´s hen. :)

Eggs here are not refrigerated. I get kind of freaked out breaking open these eggs that have been sitting out in 40°C for who knows how long, but they usually are ok. It´s a lot more common here to crack one open and find a little partially-developed chick, though.

They sell those in Indonesia on the street. It's kind of like their energy drink equivalent.

I haven't checked the grade of them, but they are brown eggs from cage free hens. The shells are harder than white eggs and the yolks are an intense golden yellow, as opposed to the paler yellow yolks of white eggs.

I am allergic to eggs, and I find this thread highly offensive. Just kidding about that last part.

Chicken eggs. But I like quail ones and would love to try ostrich. I would love to buy locally produced organic eggs because we eat a fair amount of them, but sources and time make that impractical.

A Large White.
Um, A, Large, White.

I'd like to buy them "fresh as a daisy" but conveniently get them at the supermarket.

Over here buying eggs is a moral issue.

Buying the cheapest eggs means that you support this:

so it is completely out of question and frowned upon. 10 of these cheapest eggs cost around 1.30 Euro, but basically nobody would dare to buy them - even the cashier will make a very disapproving face.

You have to buy at least "Bodenhaltung" (don't know how to translate, maybe "barn eggs"?). 10 of these eggs cost around 2.20 Euro.

or, better yet, "Freilandhaltung" (maybe translate as "free range eggs"?). 10 of these eggs cost around 2.50 Euro.

You get extra bonus points for "fed with organic food" or better yet: "not fed with genetically engineered food". You'll pay up to 4 Euro for 10 eggs for having an absolutly clear conscience.

"free range" is the politically correct egg term here. same about "organic" and "hormone free" and "cage free" etc

When you eat a chicken egg, you're preventing chickens from being born, and when you eat an ostrich egg you're providing a valuable means of ostrich-contraception.

So, decide which kind of ugly bird you like less, and get cracking!

He's so busy congratulating himself over saving all those Iraqi babies that he doesn't notice all the chicken torture going on RIGHT UNDER HIS VERY NOSE!

I wonder if you can get cage-free Iraqi babies. I bet they'd be yummy.

I don't eat a lot of eggs.
