I wanted to avoid giving her the ring in a restaurant, because I knew that at some point the restaurant would close. I wanted to do it somewhere we could always come back to.

I chose the Eleanor Roosevelt memorial at Riverside Park, which was across the street from my apartment.

I was expecting more like:

Yes, that is a great idea.

However, it appears Eleanor was not so sure about it.
