I wanted to avoid giving her the ring in a restaurant, because I knew that at some point the restaurant would close. I wanted to do it somewhere we could always come back to. I chose the Eleanor Roosevelt memorial at Riverside Park, which was across the street from my apartment. I don't remember what I said. Here's the locale:
