Oh yeah. There has to be some incentive for all those moderate Muslims we hear about to clean up their own back yard.

I quite agree. It's the fault of all those moderates that the lunatic fringe of their tribal superstition continually goes berserk. It's as if their tribal culture and superstition hard wires them that way.

On another note...from an environmental stewartship perspective what happens to all those millions of printed Qurans when their spines break and pages become irreparably damaged from extensive use by the pious or random abuse by toddlers?

Landfill? Recycling? Incineration?

Good question, can a koran be decommissioned?

If so, how?
The Confederate soldier was peculiar in that he was ever ready to fight, but never ready to submit to the routine duty and discipline of the camp or the march. The soldiers were determined to be soldiers after their own notions, and do their duty, for the love of it, as they thought best. Carlton McCarthy

That and I think a show of mercy is a lot more effective when it comes after a truly memorable show of strength and resolve. Contrast can serve a remarkable perspective.

I think it is safe to assume reuse as toilet paper is probably not an acceptable method of decommissioning.

Time for hearings on Koran Burning

Quote:

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid says congressional lawmakers are discussing taking some action in response to the Koran burnings of a Tennessee pastor that led to killings at the U.N. facility in Afghanistan and sparked protests across the Middle East, Politico reports.

“Ten to 20 people have been killed," Reid said Sunday on CBS’ “Face the Nation.” “We’ll take a look at this of course. As to whether we need hearings or not, I don’t know.”

Sen. Lindsey Graham said Congress might need to explore the need to limit some forms of freedom of speech, in light of Tennessee pastor Terry Jones’ Quran burning, and how such actions result in enabling U.S. enemies.

"I wish we could find a way to hold people accountable. Free speech is a great idea, but we're in a war," Graham told CBS' Bob Schieffer on “Face the Nation” Sunday.

“During World War II, we had limits on what you could do if it inspired the enemy," Graham said, adding certain speech can “put our troops at risk.”/quote]

Limiting speech here in order to avoid pissing off people who already hate us? Please. I don't recall any limits on criticizing Germany and Japan.

That doesn't happen to Korans. They are sacred and kept in a high place. Most can't and don't read it anyway. Often they can recite passages without knowing the meaning. To be able to recite the entire Koran guarantees a place in heaven. The whole religion is totally irrational, but then so are most others.

To go to heaven you don't need to know the meaning of even a single word. Kind of like the old Catholicism.

You'd have to go pre-reformation Europe to find anything commensurate.

It does make you wonder who the pork hoarder was in antiquity. The unclean thing was a ruse.

There's worse - rumour went round my school that a boy had somehow insulted the Koran. He's now at a different school, he was no longer safe.

So, if someone else, not an American, did it, would there be the same outrage? Will there be riots in the streets? Will innocent people be killed?

Something tells me....no.

Let's see how long this video stays up on YouTube before it's taken down at a "hate" video:

I doubt it, since a key source of their propensity for outrage and demand for respect is their bottled-up shame over how completely their society has failed to keep up with the west.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.
