I doubt it's making major headlines south of the border, but thought y'all might be interested. We are having another federal election May 2.

Most likely be another minority win for Harper, nobody from any party is lighting any fires in the populace, and it's gonna cost us a fortune. Not much to get excited about.

cbc coverage, if anyone is interested

I heard on CBC there's a 'special' poll we can participate in. We log on and it only takes 30 minutes of our time..... Oh wow eh.

I think this what CBC is referring to. It doesn't ake 30 minutes to complete either.

The riding I live will be an interesting race. It is the disgraced Tory Rahim Jaffer's old riding. Last election it went to the NDP candidate Linda Duncan by a narrow margin over the incumbent Jaffer. Since the Liberal candidate stands no chance at all, I aim to do my part to ensure that the seat remains NDP and out of reach to the Harper Tory candidate. The last thing this country needs is that autocrat Harper to get a majority.

I guess I'm not voting for the Bloc Quebecois this time.

only takes about 5 minutes, pretty straightforward questions. Interesting to see where, according to your responses, what party you are most in line with.

I'm a tad left.

I don't want to see Harper back in power, so my vote will likely go to whomever stands the best chance of beating John The Teeth Weston

Problem is, Weston has been really good for our community, far more involved than any previous member, gets stuff done for us. So I have to decide, do I vote for my riding, or the country.

My result said:

"Get off the continent, you fvcking teabagger!" "It's bad enough that you have to live in the same hemisphere, now you have to screw around with our websites and tests?!"
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

Teabagging aside, by virtue of your citizenship you are a republocrat. The less than civil response on the site was therefore highly appropriate.

I am finding it increasingly difficult to justify even a protest vote in support of that moronic smilin' Jack Layton. I simply can't, no matter .

Way to go, Harper.

This shouldn't hurt your image too too much

2 nineteen year old poli sci students get asked to leave a conervative rally because they'd been seen at a similar event for the liberals.

Wouldn't want to be seen as encouraging an educated, informed youth vote, would ya, eh Steve?

Oh really.
Sheesh.
When I was that age [taking Poli Sci], I went to everything, explored everything, including something called the Western Canada Concept. Remember that? I was passing around the KFC bucket collecting money too.

As boring as another minority parliament might, it is a far sight better than any Harper led majority.

Oh, absolutely, positively, sans doute.

I was thinking more about the actual election process.

Compared to another election process ours is entertainingly swift, pleasant and generally relevant to the electorate.

unless you live in BC and the decisions are made before all your ballots are even cast. <_<

However, I shall be there with bells on.

We've have had 2 mailings from the conservative candidate. Zippo from any other party. Not that I am particularly thrilled with crap in my mailbox, but I am a bit surprised. I guess it's a slow start out here.

But you make a good point. At least we don't drag our elections on so long they become a circus act.

Good point. Why can't they seal all ballot boxes, and commence counting at the exact same time the next day (11am Eastern and 8am Western)?
