Kincaid - good idea about linking the titles, I'll do that now. However since it's a temporary announcement, the search engine will be the only way after a couple of weeks, once the announcement is removed.

Also, it wasn't working because the default is for the "Search Posts" option to be selected, when you need to have the "Search Topics" option selected. See Step 2 in the instructions. :P
Yeah, I second pinning that single pinned thread at the top - maybe change the name to a simple "pinned threads".

As for the search, I did select "search topics" and just now tried it again - for me it brings up bunches of topics and the formerly pinned post was not on the first page, at least.

I could restrict the time span of the topics searched, but don't know when they would be so it would be a lot of hit and miss.

Kincaid - the search function seems to be quirky. At first it was working fine, then I tried searching for some threads and it showed a bunch of random results. Who knows......

Thanks Sue.

I just updated the text in that pinned thread, to simplify it and make it easier to use.

BTW - if anyone can locate the "Where Are You?" thread that was pinned, let me know. I can't seem to find a link to it, which is bizarre since I found links for the rest of them.

Ironic that the "where are you" thread is lost.

Just saw this.
I'm kind of sad.
The cookbook thread was always my default I jumped to when people came into the room while I was checking out "Are you ready for some football".
And, there are some good recipes there.

it takes a long time to get to a once pinned thread.. ~ 40 seconds on my medium/fast speed connection. .. (it's not like i come to tncr to save time tho.. ha ha ). The first place I usually come is 'my dailyshoot photos'. That thread takes a while to load.. i just use the 2-window or tab approach

it takes 2 seconds to scroll... we could possibly 'cull' the 9 threads or restructure the forum to have a pinned threads forum where people could go first if they so choose if we wanted to further refine your good intent 89... might be easiest.

the search function is works pretty well for a one word search.. otherwise it's fairly unreliable. a two-word search in topics pretty much doesn't work for me, even with refined appointment... ever.

thanks for attempting to restructure.. All the forums could be 'reworked' actually.. many are never visited.

Why not keep one single thread "pinned" which contains links to all previously pinned threads? I.e., delete the text from the currently pinned thread and only keep the links.

i think Klaus, that is what 89th has attempted with his single link to the once-pinned links. It's quite slow - which is cool, but it could certainly work faster if a forum was assigned to accomodate pinned threads.

How's the missus?
