HOLY CARP!!!
So I woke up at 6:30 to hear that we are expecting up to 6 inches of snow today.

My plan was to practice piano and then grocery shop but now I was in a bit of a panic. The grocery store is war scene 1) on days where more than an inch of snow is predicted; 2) when a Steelers playoff game is scheduled soon; and 3) every day between noon and 2:20, when people are up and showered but right before the busses with school kids return home.

I was headed into the heart of a perfect storm.

I texted my duet partner and moved back our rehearsal time. The kids got on the bus and I drove out and right to the store. I was shopping by 8:15 am.

The nice guy at the cheese counter told me I timed it well. They were expecting the mobs to hit at 9:30am.

As I pulled out about an hour later, the lot was full and cars were trolling looking for spots.

I unpacked my groceries (which my family needed like no one's business, we had about 2 eggs left and traces of butter) and then my duet partner showed up.

Now the snow is starting to come down.

I know right now people are fighting over white bread and skim milk. I am so glad to not be a part of it.

Good for you. We woke up to snow here too. Wet snow, that is likely going to turn to rain by this afternoon. Several cars in ditches, this wet slippery stuff is bad news. I'm putting on my boots and walking.

Nothing like getting up, getting your stuff done, and then moving on to better things while they day is still young.

Heh.

A friend of mine knows what great lengths I go to to avoid grocery store mob scenes.

She just left such a scene and called me to say how ugly it is out there. So I dodged a bullet.

The school district just called and cancelled all evening activities. There will at least be a delay tomorrow. Maybe cancelled. Supposed to be crazy cold on Saturday.

That's one of the best things ever. Knowing you've got the pantry fully stocked, and the snow is coming down. Even better when the kids get home.

You sound like a Minnesoooota mom.

Just in case you aren't sure, that's a compliment.

Good for you, R2. Sometimes I grocery shop after I drop kiddo off at school, and that can be any time from 7:30 to 8:00 in the morning.

I just got back from my trip to the grocery store. As much as I like to cook and bake, I really don't enjoy grocery shopping.

From 5:30 to 8:30 am, and from 4:00 to 7:00 pm, 850,000 people move about the D.C. area. They invade coffee shops, grocery stores and appliance centers. They flood the metro and give all route routes massive coronaries. You can't get anywhere past your mailbox without getting a wave in from the guy behind you.

I fully appreciate your accomplishment!
I cite irreconcilable differences.

If you want trouble, find yourself a redhead
As I post I'm in the car, inching towartd home after dropping daughter off at work. Too bad for her to drive. I did not go in today. Too bad weather.
