This is driving me nuts. I know I found a website where you could plug the name of a famous novel in, and get either the number of pages, or the word count. I can't seem to find it again... Anybody know of one? |

Amazon supplies that information (the number of pages), iirc. Check it out: Hardcover: 304 pages Publisher: Harper; First Edition/First Printing edition (November 23, 2010) Language: English ISBN-10: 0062010964 ISBN-13: 978-0062010964 Product Dimensions: 8.4 x 5.6 x 1.2 inches |

Be careful about the number of pages. George is right, Amazon usually has that information (or AbeBooks), but you have to make sure you're looking at the specific publication year you want. There's a difference between hardcovers, paperbacks, trade paperbacks, reissues, etc. |

What are you a librarian or something? ISBN 10 or 13 then, if youse so smart? (No seriously, I don't understand the difference at all.) |

This was much easier than Amazon - this page had a place to type the title, and then it just gave you the pages (I don't need exact - just ballpark...) |

You can search either one. Since 2007 they've started using the 13 code. Just has a bit more information. |

This is what I've noticed: If different publishers publish the same book, for example a classic, then each publisher will have a different page count. This is because the page size (pocket, hard cover, etc.), font size, lines per inch, margin size, and the inclusion of a preface or forward, etc. can vary. This, I don’t know: If a novel is published by different publishers, will they all have the same ISBN no. or will each publisher have its own ISBN no.? |

Aqua is correct. ISBN numbers are specific to that very edition that's in your hands, that publisher, that printing. |
