HOLY CARP!!!

I go to the dealer to get the oil changed only because they charge 50 bucks instead of 79 at the Jiffy Lube. This is because of the cost of the 0W ( zero weight) oil. Other than that, no... I don't know if the dealer checks the water level in the battery as part of their checks. I mean, the damn battery says *Maintenance free*. That's one of the reasons I overlooked it. Maybe they do too. But I haven't been doing the dealer maintenance interval visits. I look in the manual to see what they do and if I can, I check that stuff myself. |

Took the hybrid in yesterday so they could replace the Hybrid battery. All under the standard 8/80K warranty for hybrid components, including labor. I dodged a bullet on this one. The new battery is only warranted for the remainder of the original warranty. I'm at 70K now, so I'm covered for the next 10K. The week I drove the car around waiting for the new battery, the warning lights never came back on and the car drove normally. Hopefully, this new battery will last longer than 70K miles... |

Improv I hate to say it (NOT ) but . . . "I TOLD YOU SO!"Remember we both bought the same 2004 hybrid? Then in 2006 I sold mine at a $2100 profit (yes, profit), exactly KBB value for my Zip code. Then I got the much nicer and safer 2006 model and got the IRS credit (not deduction, CREDIT!) of another $2000 IIRC? I recommended you do the same and I don't recall what reason you gave. That's $4100 back into my wallet AND a two-year newer battery. I love you dearly but since I'm an A-Hole I have to rub this one in your nose. Neener Neener. ![]() ![]() Hey, look on the bright side. Your battery crapped out at the perfect time. Regardless of what the new warranty is, odds are it will last 10+ years. Image if it died just after your warranty expired, instead of just before.

I hear ya... I'm not one to buy and trade cars after a few years... I research a purchase, then buy it and keep it till the thing has to be hauled away to the dump. Most of my life, vehicles I've purchased, I've kept at least 10 years. I plan on doing the same with the Hybrid. And you're right. I lucked out with the battery dying under warranty. Usually, for me, it's the other way around. |

Yep. Just forgot. Y'all never talk it about like SOMEONE else we know. How's the mpg on it? Do you find your driving style changed once you got used to it? Do you find yourself trying to best your highest mpg or watching the realtime mileage indicator? |
