HOLY CARP!!!
|
I'm thinking of going SRAM if I have to purchase an all new gruppo. I thought I had a double 9sp. setup, but noticed the smaller ring is 42T, meaning it was part of a triple crank... I think I can just add a third ring, but am not sure if my front derailleur is set for double or triple. Also unsure if shifter is triple. If it's a hodge-podge I'm looking at some $$ to either go 10sp double/compact, or get a triple setup. Anyway - if I have to purchase a new gruppo I will be looking at SRAM. Those shifters are HOT. |

AL: I just realized that is the new 11-32 cassette... now that gruppo is SUPER HOT! ![]() Did you already get this?! Do you mind telling me (via PM if you prefer) what something like this runs? Edited by KlavierBauer, Jan 12 2011, 01:35 PM.

If I were you, I'd stick with the double and just vary your gear ratios. You add a third gear up there and you're going to be dancing around on that derailleur all the time, not to mention possibly spending more money. But that's me, I follow the minimalist school of thought with respect to gearing: only shift gears when not shifting would amount to a considerable performance loss. I don't keep track of my cadence, I personally think it's better to develop a feel for your ride and go by that instead. |

Didn't get it yet, no, but this is my plan. Apex is supposed to be the SRAM competition for Shimano 105, and just came out last year. I've heard really good things but haven't tried it out for myself yet. I'll let you know when I do, though. I'm really excited about my next bike project. It's not going to be your typical ride, oh no. I'm going to have something on the road not many have seen before.

HOLY CARP!!!

AL: I'm ok with a double, but I found that my smaller chain ring is the rong size - just trying to figure out if someone altered a triple (removed a chain ring), or a double (replaced the smaller gear with a larger one from a triple set). Confusing - I'd prefer a 10sp compact setup (like you've pictured above), but that means replacing everything, which is pricey. Anyway - thread hijack over. |

From everything I've read, SRAM perfectly corresponds to the Shimano lineup +1. ![]() So yeah - SRAM red Mark... ![]() Like I can talk.. Mark - let me know if you upgrade, and have an Ultegra gruppo lying around! (or are you already rockin Dura-ace?) |
