ZOOOOOM!
Hei, huh?

Quote:

Hei is the foundation of all Chinese kung fu in terms of its internal approach. Simply speaking it is the cultivation of internal energy. Everyone has this internal energy, but it is used in different ways across many disciplines. Opera singers use the hei; when they sing, they are not only using their vocal cords to produce sound, but project their hei from their daan tin, where the energy is stored.

Hei requires internal circulation and growth. In Wing Chun, practicing and performing Siu Lim Tau is how a practitioner develops this. The movements of the first sections of the form gathers, stores, and draws the energy from the daan tin. The first section is very important in building one's hei. The various movements open and close energy channels, connected to the body's vital organs. The second section prepares the practitioner for effecient explusion of one's energy. It should be executed cleanly and smoothly, as flicking water. The third and last section combines the essential components of the former two: the practicioner expends hei using the energy release processes learned in section two, but with the movements learned in section one. The proper execution of section three (and its movements in a real-world application) are solely dependent on the practicioner's understanding of sections one and two.
I cite irreconcilable differences.

In the paragraphs quoted by Aqua, "hei" is simply the Cantonese pronunciation for "qi" (氣).

"taan din" is 丹田, it simply means "abdomen."

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.
