Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

HOLY CARP!!!
You watch the series and you start feeling like the guy was Superman (is it irony that he fought against the race of "supermen"?). RIP - we thank you for your service.

I was fortunate to get to sit in on a speech by a soldier in arms, Donald Malarkey, just last year. The only thing he got teary in recounting was his fellow soldiers no longer living.

Our family has watched episodes 1-9 of the series just in the last couple weeks. We'll finish it this week. Hard to watch some parts, but it's very well done.

Winters was a remarkable person. God's peace to him and his family.

Winters was a very young man when he met a challenge that would be daunting to anyone. He not only displayed great courage but leadership as well. RIP to a real hero.

One of the nurses I work with (whose husband was in the 101st Airborne - Battle of the Bulge and all that) told me that Winters specifically wanted his funeral to be private. No glory seeker, he.

January 12, 2011|Los Angeles Times staff and wire reports

Richard "Dick" Winters, the "Easy Company" commander whose World War II exploits were made famous by the book and television miniseries "Band of Brothers," has died. He was 92.

Williams died Jan. 2 at an assisted living facility in Campbelltown, Pa., after battling Parkinson's disease for several years, said longtime family friend William Jackson. An intensely private man, Winters had asked that news of his death be withheld until after his funeral, Jackson said.

So he's at least 85 and his wife is still working? Wow.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Yep. He's exactly 85. His wife is 77.

There's another lady, Helen, who is 82. She pushes carts (with patients on them) around.

Remarkable people.

I am currently reading Dick Winters' autobiography. He, of course is an amazing person, but I find his thoughts on leadership and its development to be particularly inspiring. These thoughts are an important undercurrent in this book. Recommended.
