Welcome to the club!
Got my first bifocals two years ago. My new ones should arrive this week.

I got bifocals about three months ago. I refuse to wear them. They are the high-tech no-line glasses, but they suck for distance and they suck for reading, too. I'm making do with a pair of reading glasses that I bought off the rack at Walgreen's. Hrmph...

I'm still in denial. I have drug store reading glasses and prescription distance glasses. Neither of which is right for when I'm at work.

HOLY CARP!!!
I got progressives several years ago and could not get used to them.
I had to turn my head from left to right to read a book instead of just keeping my head still and moving my eyes.
I exchanged those lenses fro bifocals with the line.
Age is nothing to be ashamed of.

A week ago I gave progressives another try knowing it would be tough.
So far so good.
It's nice to be able to see fine detail again, which the drug store cheapies didn't offer.

Seriously, it's not so much the age thing, it's the cost. Progressives are so freaking expensive.

HOLY CARP!!!
My progressive lenses were $59 at Costco including anti-reflective coating.
My frames were $49 - their cheapest.

How much are progressive lenses up there?
I do remember being shocked how expensive everything was up there.

Down here you really have to shop around.
I think my eye doctor's office charges double or more.

I'd be lucky to get them for under $400.

I hadn't thought of costco, though. I will, thanks.

I believe it's $85 now for a basic eye exam.

I got mine at age 44. I'm up to 275 strength, and I've been there for years. I have regular lined bifocals (no correction on top) and get mine at readingglasses.com or Debspecs.com.

$400 :hair:

I already had the exam at my regular eye doctor (if you recall I have Glaucoma) and told my doctor to write down my eye Rx.

She did and I gave it to Costo to make my glasses, so I didn't have to get another exam at Costco.

Same here, except I didn't even like the line.

Make sure you get your PD and the rest of your prescription right. Zenni is not bad (I've bought from them myself), but it certainly helps to have a wife who is an Ophthalmic Tech by trade.

I verified the PD with my eye doctor. In fact I had them clarify and verify everything.

Cheap! I figure I will just trash them anyway so no sense in spending real money on them.
