We had a dog when I was a kid that got loose one day, and came home with a dirty and scrungy beat up old stuffed pink bunny. My mother washed it and cleaned it, and that dog took it every with him. It was never more than a couple feet away for over two years. Then one day it fell apart beyond repair in the washing machine. We tried getting him other bunnies and other toys, but none would take it's place. Years later, my siser comes to the house with my baby nephew and his toys. One of the toys is a stuffed pink pig with big ears. At this point, the ol dog gets excited and runs over to get it. Everybody's trying to get it away from the dog, and the dog is getting a little aggressive about it (not dangerously so, but was making it clear that he was taking posession of this toy) until I remind them about the old bunny, the pig looks a little like it. So, they decide to let him keep the pig. He'd share it, he'd let the young kids play with it, but that old dog kept that thing with him until he died, and was even buried with it. |

The all time favorites in this house are in order, varigated craft store pipe cleaners (neon so we can find them: we coil them up; neon rabbit fur coated swede tailed mini mice that have little noisy seeds inside; plain old card board boxes with flap tops; homemade duct tape balls. 2/3 of the kitties play fetch like dogs. We do get them stoned with catnip every now and then too. It's amusing, but one always pukes and then the fun is over. |

LD that is a sweet story. I have found nearly identical bunnies and placed them next to her beloved bunny. She ignores them in favor or the real deal. And Brenda she makes awful howling noises near our front door at night, before the hunt. This only lasts about 2 minutes but it's hysterical. |

That's very much doglike behavior. I've never heard of too many cats acting like that. Edited by Luke's Dad, Dec 12 2010, 09:33 PM.

My cats love clawing peoples' eyeballs out and batting them around on the hardwood floor, until they accidentally bat them beneath the refrigerator. It's so cute.... |

Yeah, I sure am glad that I'm enough larger than the cats that they don't regard me as prey. |
