My two cats used to be indoor/outdoor cats. When I moved to Texas, I decided they will be confined to the indoors. They have both adjusted well but I know they don't get nearly the amount of exercise they used to. They've both put a little weight so I've cut back on their food. The old man is pushing 16-years old so he pretty much just eats and sleeps. The youngster is handicapped as she's minus a rear leg due to an injury and is declawed. Climbing is a little difficult for her. I finally got smart a put a stool by my bed so she can get up there herself. Otherwise, she sits on the floor and squawks to be picked up. I just read a blurb about using interactive food-dispensing toys for stimulation. I never thought about that for cats. Dogs, yes, but not cats. After a quick Internet search, the only toy I found is the egg-cersizer. It looks like it would work but I'm wondering if more experienced cat owners might have any suggestions. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3261+1897+1899+22265&pcatid=22265 Also, have you seen this commercial for the Sunny Seat? Do you think the cats would like it? https://secure.sunnyseat.com/tv.aspx |

We make wool cat toys filled with catnip. They are a huge hit with our two girls, Evette and Etta. Their current fave is the floppy fish with the fringed tail. I should make some more for their Christmas stockings. |

Mice ..... . . . . No, really. A few years back we had a mouse infestation in our attic. Sometimes a few would slip into the house. Classic Tom & Jerry, except that things tended to go very badly for Jerry. |

Well done, kitty! Did kitty leave the mouse heads in your slippers? Our cats do that for hubby. Little trophies. |

Usually the entire mouse. Things were worse when we had gerbils. Those dang gerbils were very persistent. They learned that if they jumped up and banged into the mesh lid of the cage that eventually the lid would slide enough for them to squeeze out. I still remember the evening when I observed out of the corner of my eye a small black shadow move across the floor in the dim light, followed a nanosecond later by a larger black shadow. My brain took about a second to process what a saw. I then moved quickly to intercept the cat before the gerbil became .... game. I wasn't always on the scene, however. We did wake up to several dead gerbils presented neatly beside our bed. |

Tried to order but the State/ Province list does not have any provinces to select. The security check keeps asking to select a state or province.

I think they'd like that until the first time the suction cups gave up the ghost and whole thing, kitty and all, went crashing to the floor. Looks like a lovely idea, but I'm a bit dubious as to the security of the set-up. |

We use a suction cup setup for our hummingbird feeder. It seems to hold up all summer long. I have to pry it off in October. |

That's what I was thinking about. We had one once, and it didn't stay on the window. Big friggin' mess on the deck, and very unhappy hummers.

My cat likes a wound-up yarn ball best. It must be yarn only and not rubber or plastic. I throw it and the cat retrieves it. Concerning the Sunny Seat: I’d say yes to it. Cats like warmth and sitting on window ledges. Concerning the plastic egg that dispenses cat food: I’d say no to it. The reason is that your cats will roll it around various areas of your house. Cat food will inevitably work itself out of the little holes. Then you’ll end up stepping on the food or vacuuming it up. You may end up with pest control problems also. Cats all have different personalities and preferences. You’ll just have to use trial and error to find what each cat likes. |

Our cat never tires of chasing the end of a piece of string or wool moved in front of it. You have to edge it closer until the cat pounces, or flick it in front so the cat lunges. Four feet of string, hours of entertainment. |

Ours likes paper bags. A nice crunchy bag, that makes lots of noise. Not sure what he thinks he's killing when he attacks it, but it's cheap entertainment for us. |

Ours likes small pieces of Lego (the heads of pirates, for example) as well as pretty much anything that rolls around with a little bell attached that makes a really, really annoying noise at 2 o'clock in the bloody morning. Oh, and jigsaw pieces. She loves those. Whenever my daughter finishes a puzzle, we can always guess which one the cat's being playing with, because there's a BLOODY HOLE IN THE MIDDLE OF THE PUZZLE. |

The Eggercizer looks like a treat ball my BIL gave us for Buddy: http://www.cattoys.com/cat-talk-to-me-treatballs.html You can even record a message for your cats that they hear when they move the ball. You don't want to be at home with that switch turned on though, or your own repetitive voice will drive you nuts. The trick with those balls is to find a cat treat that won't fall out too quickly. Buddy made quick work of dumping the ball upside down and spilling out the treats at once. He plays a lot more with crinkle balls and string. Window seats are a nice idea, if you're not sure about the suction cups, I've seen some that attach to a window ledge. |

My cat loves a small, lavender-colored stuffed bunny. We hide it every night and when we wake up, it is resting outside our bedroom door. I've only ever seen her carry it around maybe twice. She's very secretive about her bunny moves. I always thank her for the bunny, and then feed her. |

You're lucky she's quiet about it. Ours deliver toys to our bedroom with a full fanfare of repeated yeowing and meowing. This can happen more than once per night.

We are our cats favorite toys. But besides that, they really like the laser pointer (you can get them at PetSmart, etc), and the remote control mouse. And the little mouse toys that are light enough to be carried around in their mouths. |
