What's the difference between icing and glaze?

glaze is thinner than icing
icing is thinner than frosting

I prefer the glaze. The taste of the cream cheese doesn't go well with cinnamon rolls imho.

Why not just cinnamon straight up?

Why not just cinnamon straight up?
gets my vote. I find the icing on cinnamon rolls (if memory serves, it's been awhile), just too sticky and messy and not really needed. All that warm buttery, cinnamony goodness that is in the roll itself is enough for me. A dusting of cinnamon on top would be perfecto.

Did you vote for it above, too, Riley?

Hoisin or KungBao sauce.
It was good on the beef, but I doubt it would do much for cinnamon rolls, Ax.

I am not a baker.
I once had a frosting on a coffee cake "thingie" that was out of this world. My hostess told me she laced it with Grand Marnier Liqueur. Wonderful.
I would guess a bottle of that could be found in Minnasooooooota.

Cream Cheese!! I love it on carrot cake and cinnamon buns.
As a good person, I implore you to do as I, a good person, do. Be good. Do NOT be bad. If you see bad, end bad. End it in yourself, and end it in others. By any means necessary, the good must conquer the bad. Good people know this. Do you know this? Are you good?

Your tastes tend to be very similar to ours. You really should get two votes. I'll make sure you do.

They're in the fridge waiting until morning. I'll let them finish rising overnight, let them sit out of the fridge as the oven heats, then pop them in to bake.

There are two small pans of them, so I suppose I could do two batches of toppings.

Mark, you're closest, so if you can get here by around 9:00, they should be out of the oven by then. :)

I voted glaze, because I don´t like cream cheese, but if I did like cream cheese I´d probably vote for that. I looove thick icing :)

I actually just made these for the first time the other day, and then again with my host mom yesterday. Neither turned out as airy and flaky as buns should. I´m gonna make these again for my family (real family) at Christmas. I´m guessing leaving the dough in the fridge overnight might help things? I don´t think I had used too much flour. . .

I let ours rest overnight in the fridge, just to make it easy for this morning. They finished rising in just a slightly warm oven, then baked.

Try cutting them with dental floss by wrapping the floss around the dough 'log' and pulling on each end of the floss. They cut neatly without squishing the dough. Slick!
