When I was a lad, we lived outside of Athens and my friends and I would take the bus or tube down to the Plaka (the old part of town just east of Constitution Square and the Parliament building) and climb up the acropolis. We'd jump walls and found crumbles in the stones that made up the walls supporting the acropolis and we'd scale the walls play up there. What a view!!!

We knew it was going to close for many years for restoration, so I am happy I got lots of pictures up there when it was still open.

The curators/guards thought it was neat that kids would want to play around such historic buildings and they never chased us off -- even after hours. We would pretend we were Gods and play out make-believe scenarios.

Fun memories.
