 Don't think I would either. I'd be chanting "snow day, snow day, snow day!!!"

As soon as we got a dusting, they were at the top of the hill in our front yard with sleds. Over anxious they are, for some serious snow.

Open mouth, insert foot.

We are under a warning tomorrow.

Betcha school is cancelled Monday.
My daughter is soooo not impressed that our storm came on a WEEKEND! She considers it a waste of a perfectly good snow day. :lol2:

Keep us posted on what's brewing, R2. :)

The GF's dad started his 10-hour surgery around 8:30am Minnesooooooota time. She said it was absolutely awful getting to the hospital because of the snow and visibility. At least they are all camped out there in the hospital, hoping and praying for a good outcome.

I'm hoping things go well, 89th.
Any news, 89th?

Sounds like a little girl who used to live here, one who looks a lot like a certain teenager who lives here now.

:lol2: Does that ever bring back memories. The best snow storms are the ones that start late Sunday night, so you wake up Monday morning to a snow day. Better than Christmas.

We got hit with freezing rain and sleet and it's been snowing for hours.

Not sure how much we will end up with but I am ready.

89th is supposed to be in Pittsburgh today for his first Steelers game.

The snow is supposed to start right as the game ends. I hope he can make the 4-hour drive home.

He will be on my mind all day, for several reasons.

On the weather service it gives local reports, including from law enforcement. There are several that say things like this:

Quote:

0457 AM BLIZZARD ROCHESTER 44.01N 92.48W
12/12/2010 OLMSTED MN LAW ENFORCEMENT

MANY ROADS BLOWN SHUT ACROSS OLMSTED COUNTY.SOME VEHICLES
STRANDED OVERNIGHT WITH OCCUPANTS INSIDE.

:hair:

Why do people do this? It was well publicized how bad this storm would be.

Going to hunker down and play me some WoW! (and some piano and drums and guitar maybe)

Neighbor across the street putting away his ladder. He cleared off part of his kitchen roof because they have a skylight.

I've decided it's a good thing to NOT have a skylight in my kitchen! :lol2:

I shoveled the front porch steps. Left snow about 3 feet high in front of them for hubby to get with the blower. :lol2:

Minnesoooota Minnesnowta is very beautiful. :)

Very windy today with windchills from -20 to -35. Think hot chocolate and a nice window. :)

Snow in Paris too!

A few days ago, I was feeling sorry for the French. Paris had been brought to a standstill by a snowstorm. Businesses were closed; transportation had ground to a halt; travelers were stranded; the Eiffel Tower was shut down. A familiar story. But then I read this:

Quote:

Interior Minister Brice Hortefeux asked drivers to leave their vehicles at home the day after 11 centimetres (more than four inches) of snow fell on Paris, the most since 1987.

Four inches?! Here in Minnesota, we refer to that as "snow flurries." Four inches is a light dusting that we send our womenfolk out to shovel. For a great city to be brought to its knees by a mere four inches of snow bespeaks a lack of character.

On the other hand, what we have experienced in Minnesota today--well, to paraphrase Crocodile Dundee, this is a snowstorm.
...
Tonight the temperature is expected to get down to seven below, with a high tomorrow of four, followed by a low Sunday night of -13. That's Fahrenheit, for our French friends. But by morning, the city will be functioning again. If the Parisians want to find out how it's done, they should send a delegation to Minneapolis!

=-=-=-=-=-=

I know, it's snarky, but I couldn't resist. :hat:
