How about a cup of coffee?

That's what I suggested, Copper. But she wants something that'll make one cup, and not burn what's left. Also, only one cup.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

I used the Nespresso system while in Sweden this summer, it was quite nice.
In my defense, I was left unsupervised.

Quirt has the ultimate coffee maker. It makes individual cups from prepackaged ingredients, just like Mrs. George is looking for. I can't remember the brand/model.

[edit] I looked it up. I believe it's Keurig B70.

Gee, you have my coffee maker.

A bit pricey per cup (around 50 cents, buying by the box at Amazon), but you can use your own coffee using the My K-Cup adaptor. Nice thing about them is the cups come in lots of things besides coffee...green teas, dark chocolate, etc.

$20-25, the best coffee you've ever had. A little more work than a pod, but it's worth it.
The problem with having an open mind is that people keep trying to put things in it.

I *always* drink my coffee at home from a French press. The Mrs., however, is not as discriminating as I am. This is what I use:

No cleanup - just the mug.

KB is the coffee connoisseur. He even joined the "coffee club" at his place of employment...

I, on the other hand, am no help, as I am forever a tea drinker.

The Keurig is very nice. After experiencing Quirts, Mrs. D'Oh has her heart set on one - maybe for Christmas. It makes single cups very quickly, and the coffee is very nice. Since I can't drink coffee much, it's just annoying as far as I'm concerned. As a professional Englishman, I drink tea.

Isn't it, like, 2AM where you are now?

And, what is this "quirt" whereof you speak?

Professional "Englishman?" Well, that explains a lot. :lol2:

I think the Tassimo is better than the Keurig, for anyone looking at a brewing machine.

Sadly no - I escaped the sub-arctic temperatures of Blighty and returned to sub-tropical New England after less than a week.

Anybody get a Keurig B70 yet? If so, how do you like it?

(I'm doing some elfing - we have a redhead that wants one. Sometimes it's better to be on the naughty list.)

The Keurig makes a decent cup of coffee, but it's no Chemex. And those pod things are expensive.

Costco has the Keurig, comes with a boatload of coffee, the Kcup for brewing your own and the Costco-if-you-don't-love-it-money-back-guarantee.

I got a Keurig about a year and a half ago - don't remember which model, I'm at work right now, but is has started brewing only half a cup, or less, each time. I've descaled it, cleaned the nozzles, all to no avail. Seems that it's a pretty common problem (google it).

Keurig? Never again. I'll stick with my french press..

We have both and although we used to Keurig it everyday, it is now collecting dust. The french press has been our workhorse now.

its what we have when i need a quick caffiene boost, use it strictly for expresso, no milk, variety of capsule flavors.

low maintenace. just fill with water, push a button. eject the capsule. thats it.

We've used our Tassimo several times a day for 4 years now, never an issue.
I've seen many new models out, which are probably quieter, but this workhorse keeps going.

We drink the European coffees, espressos, teas. My favorite is Jacobs caffe crema sanft and mild.

Mr. Coffee - about $25 - mine is probably 7-8 years old - going strong - use it every day

Maxwell House Original - good to the last drop

I adjust the amount of water and grounds for the number of cups I want/need, usually 4-6. I've been doing this for so long that I had to really think about how much coffee to use when I started making a full pot every morning for the IT wing at school.
