How about a cup of coffee?

This is the Coffee Room, right?

Mrs. George is looking for a coffee maker that makes individual cups - preferably one that takes those little packets, so you don't need to measure.

Any suggestions?

Nothing is as effective as homeopathy.

I'd rather listen to an hour of Abba than an hour of The Beatles.

Yeah - don't ever get one of those. :)

Kruups makes a decent one though...

Do you mean something like this?

That one uses bar-coded discs so the scanner in the brewer customizes each drink.

Yeah, MS, that's what I was thinking of. Pricey though!

We bought ours when Braun was making them, now it's Bosch and they're a bit more, but with more model selections.

There are other brewers like that, but I think Tassimo has the best brands and variety of drinks. The barcode thing is pretty clever. It will make a regular coffee or really kick up a velvety foam for my Jacobs sanft & mild coffee, I like that customization.

What a blast from the past George - That I think was one of the very first viral things I remember on the Internet as Ebay was coming into its own.

I thought some people here recommended Keurig not long ago? I have no personal experience.

I did try some Starbucks instant that I thought was pretty dang good though.

Quirt has the ultimate coffee maker. It makes individual cups from prepackaged ingredients, just like Mrs. George is looking for. I can't remember the brand/model.

[edit] I looked it up. I believe it's Keurig B70.

I said kruups earlier George - but I meant the Keurig.
Lots of folks here at work use the "coffee pod" system, and swear by it.

They're obviously not in the coffee club...

The absolute best instant coffee ever! But, it's expensive at between .50 and $1 a cup.

However, I much prefer grinding my own beans and using a french press.

That's what I do, but the Mrs. wants something else. I found an individual drip maker at Brookstone for $40.

Just pop in a filter, and pour hot water through?

Yep - put in as much or as little coffee as you want (I put in lots, some people want less potent coffee), and slowly pour hot water over. Basically works like a drip system - but you get to spread the water a lot more consistently. Pouring into those steep sides mixes up the grounds quite a bit, and ensures that you don't get the strata associated with normal drip machines, where the top gets just a quick soak, and the bottom gets all the water.

Yes. That's the type we use every day here. We use the big one for the two of us.

I know it's not as easy as a Keurig, with coffee pods - and it requires more "participation" - but it does make one darn good cup of coffee.
