Hi -- I am looking for a Peanut Butter Cookie recipe. Nothing fancy, just plain ol' PB cookies. Also, do you recommend a particular peanut butter (plain or one that has sugar/salt in it?) I have two recipes in front of me: Betty Crocker Peanut Butter cookies and Crisco Irresistible Peanut Butter cookies. Your suggestions? Thanks! |

If that's the crisco recipe from the back of the 1 lb. crisco container, then that's my vote. I always use plain peanut butter (no added salt, sugar or oils). Yum, peanut butter cookies. I should make some. |

You need a third option just to keep things lively. Here's a classic: http://www.kingarthurflour.com/recipes/classic-peanut-butter-cookies-recipe ![]() King Arthur tests every recipe they offer to make sure they are delicious. It gives extra info at their website. |

I think the crisco recipe calls for all brown sugar (I use demerara); I like the extra flavour and moisture you get from it. |

I use the Betty Crocker recipe and reduce the sugar and add extra salt, and substitute butter for crisco... there is something about crisco that is scary to me. i also use peter pan and add a little extra of that and then flour if the dough is too soft.

what is peter pan? I usually use half butter half crisco, just because I think all butter makes them too soft. and yes, I add salt too because I use unsalted butter and peanut butter. |

it's a commercial peanut butter with crisco. - my kids like peter pan pb. I eat the natural stuff with tomatoes, crispy toast and salt. |

Apple - I bought a jar of Peter Pan peanut butter and will use it in the recipe, just as you do. Typically, I eat natural peanut butter - the kind you have to stir - however, I am believing the Peter Pan, Skippy, or Jif brands are the way to go. Is there really a big difference in taste between Peter Pan, Skippy, and Jif brands? The ingredients seemed the same. ilm |

They vary in sweetness IIRC, with Skippy being less sweet than the other two. |
